Perhaps then they should have a night for slick cars only and a different night for street cars, bikes. Then the crowds would be better than the typical overpacked conditions trying to run so many in one night. If a car oils down at 130 and it'll take three hours to clean up, they could just run one lane. Slick cars frequently run solo passes anyway.

I asked them once a few years ago why they did not do that and was told that it would be impossible due to staffing. I took it to mean that they were too lazy to work 2 nights a week. I think it would pull in new business if people knew they would get more than 2 runs in for the money. But its PRP so it will never change.

I saw the same thing too and commented about it that night to those around. The car legally should have had a 6pt roll bar at that point and the guy didn't even wear a helmet. There was a vette there too with a passenger in the car...

The 3hr long oil down reminded me that I was still at the same old PRP and why I rarely go anymore. I used to practically live at that track too and never missed a TNT night...

I almost ran my Infiniti but I was sure glad I didn't when I saw how long the clean up took.

And now you traverse to tracks out east that are a 6% downhill grade and they afford superior e.t. and mph. Where's the sense in that?

LMFAO I dont know if Im reading post from 10 yr old boys or grown men with half a brain. The only thing that doesnt change is your typical TNT racer that has no clue on how to run a drag strip . PRP is a business and always will be. One bad night and everyone wants to run their mouth and everyone still had MORE then 2 runs. The last time I checked they are avg. more then 5 runs a TNT.

Now for the idea to have a street car TNT and a slick car TNT thats brilliant. Lets say you have 100 cars, 50 street and 50 slick. It cost $2500 to open and run a TNT. If you you combine them in one night and charge $25 a car that is $2500 and the track breaks even. Now lets try the great idea of having two separate nights. Now you just doubled the cost to open to $5000 for both nights and brought in $1250 each night. So thats a $2500 loss, brilliant... And NO... you are not going to get any more cars by doing a separate night. PRP is trying to have a bike only TNT and the first night they had a whooping 30 bikes. Guess what... Big loss!

As for the single lane runs, one word "safety". And on the other, hand people would have *itched they only ran one lane.

The comment that PRP is lazy because they dont want to open 2 nights a week. I hate to even reply to these stupid comments because they are exactly that "stupid". This week PRP is open 6 days in a row. Thursday - Tuesday so I would say you are wrong.

I edited my thread because it isn't worth trying to argue with the PRP sackriding patrol. PRP is what it is, and what's its been for many years. The result of having no local compitition. This thread is about me taking my car drag racing, PRP crew please start a new thread about how wonderful the track is elsewhere.

Sorry to stir things up in your thread Cam. In other news it appears you know how to drive pretty well.

No problem Dennis, some things never change here. I must admit I thought the car would be more difficult on the track than it was. I am very happy with how it performed. Now I just need to get my LS7 clutch and sticky tires on

I don't appreciate the name calling. I haven't called you any names. We can disagree without being childish. Yes, I am a staunch supporter of the track, because I love American muscle cars, of all eras, and drag/bracket racing. You opened the door with your comments about "total poochscrew" and "fast clean up crew". My intent was to pass along some knowledge on why cleans up can take so long on occasion. Balaska is correct on the expenses doubling when you split your car count in half. That simply isn't smart business. Go to NHRA.com or IHRA.com, and look at the track listings, and visit other tracks websites to see how many test and tunes they have. I've been to a fair number of tracks and their sites, and cannot think of any that has multiple test and tunes in week. PRP is trying hard to give everyone the best bang for their buck. TNT goes an extra hour this year. The first weekend test and tunes went well past their scheduled times, til all the daylight was about gone. They're trying to get more bikes involved with the bike only test and tunes. Maybe a street car only night would work as well, maybe not every week, but once a month like the bike only night. Talk to the new track manager, Greg Miller. He will at least listen to you, and talk WITH you, not at you, or down to you.

Seems like some good info in here......

I wonder if there is better cleanup methods/equipment available that other tracks use to avoid 3 hour oil-downs.

I didn't use the term sackrider as trying to personally attack anyone, it's just a term I use to describe scenario's such as this one. Here are the last thoughts I will post in this thread on this subject. There are problems at PRP that seem to happen all the time, that's not just me bitchin, that's a sentiment shared by many. They overcrowd TNT's. It's a frustrating constant. Even though I'm "brillant" as Balaska pointed out, here are some observations from a dumbass like me. 1. having a test and tune for street cars only would ease crowding and promote more street cars coming, unlike a bike only night. 12-20 bikes show up on a giving tnt night. It was doomed to fail with a bike only night, unlike the 100+ street cars that come to a regular tnt night. A money figure of 2500 as a break even number was stated which would be 100 cars, but no mention was made of the money made in spectator entry fee's, all the concession money brought in, the souvenier money brought in exc. so on a givin night alot more than 2500 is brought in when 100 cars show up. 2. Keeping cars in the "pits" (which is fancy talk at prp for grass and gravel) not the staging lanes until class is called is insanity. When the first round of street cars was called racing was delayed for 30 minutes while cars rolled in the gates and pulled into the staging lanes and needed to be teched in, mixed in with all the other cars that were already teched. Either fill the staging lanes as they come which gives time to be teched in for late comers while the first lanes are run, or have cars go to a specific area to be teched in once racing starts so it doesn't hold everyone else up. 3. Synthetic oil is used everywhere, it is un acceptable to spend 1/3 of the time that everyone paid for cleaning up an oil down. If its a matter of equipment, it needs to be purchased, if it's manpower it has to be filled. It's just un acceptable. I will say on the positive, the track prep at the beginning of the night was better than I'm used to at PRP. That was a nice change.
