    Cobra is overheating! WTF!

welp happy memorial day everyone.... i hope all yawl are haven a better one then i. friday on my way to pymatuning the cobra started to act up again.. i was in bridgeville and the a/c got warm for some odd reason and then noticed that steam and antifreeze was comming out of the heat extractors.... now im startn to see why the put the F*n things there in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!! .... anyways... .. . so then i noticed the fan WAS NOT RUNNING either! so last year i had a problem like this also... i ended up sucking the tank of antifreeze and putting it back in threw the cross over tube... thermostat was changed also.... so we thought that there was a air pocket in the lines and seemed to solve the problem... is it possible that an airpocket could of came back?

if you get an air pocket in the crossover tube the fan wont turn on because thats where the computer picks up the water temp at but with the A/C on the low speed fan should run constantly. I would check the CCRM to see if the relay is kicking you might have a power loss or something, check the 4 wire connector under the air cleaner for corrosion. The temp sensor should have kicked the high speed fan......i think it would be odd for both speeds to not work unless it was the CCRMs fault

Guess I forgot to post this on SCS. See number 2!!

Everything I have learned about the Cobra from th interwebz.

Ok who else had had enough of these...I read it on the internet so its true. Even thought I never had the problem I will preach what I read and argue it to death. I swear every time I try to look something up I spend days digging around worthless info and today it just made me laugh. So I wanted to post this and sum it all up in one thread.

So far here is what I would know about the 03-04 Cobras from just reading the net.
    1. As soon as the engine over heats it melts into a puddle and the heads come flying off.
    2. Any cooling system/ overheating issues mean you have air in the system. Nothing else would ever cause this.
    3. Everyone can get 700 on 93. (Found this in for sale section and the next line was...new engine installed and only 100miles on it.
    4. Never leave hard with an IRS or it will snap like a toothpick. Even on stock tires!!
    5. All Cobras need to run drag slicks, even in the snow.
    6. The hesitation between shifts is a tuning issue and not the PPRV.
    7. Cams are just for noise and don’t help with HP.
    8. You need to replace you alternator before a long road trip because they ALL go bad.
    9. After you fix something with everyone’s help, never and I mean never post up what fixed the issue. Let the next guy have as much fun as you did tracking the issue down.

*. EVOs can out run street bikes. (Thought I would just put that in. LOL)

constant control relay module, its in the inner fender on the passenger side.

this is my thought process on this and based on the issues i had with my fan the last couple days....

engine is overheating... and no high speed fan >>> either you have a power loss or bad high speed fan or an air bubble in the cross over tube and the computer cant see the engine is hot

a/c is on......but no low speed fan >>> either you have a power/ground loss or a bad low speed fan.....the fan should run all the time if the a/c is on regardless of engine temp

seeing as how the a/c started to blow hot air you had neither high or low speed on the fan working (which both can run independently, thats why its a three wire fan) i would look for a power/ground loss.....the CCRM controls the fan, the power for the fan comes into the CCRM from the 4 wire plug under the air box....its a 3 wire plug in my car but im sure it serves the same purpose

im not saying it couldnt be your fan but both speeds would have to be not working

anyways my car did the same thing, i ended up having a broken wire in the plug that supplied power to the constant control relay module for the fan

Last time his thermostat would not open which caused the car to overheat. The fans did come on from what I remember but he was not getting any circulation.

Dave, once you replaced the thermostat did you fill and burp the car the same way we did the night I stopped out?

Within 100 miles of owning a Cobra (with 6100 miles on it) the cooling fan went bad on ours.

well... i havent even touched the car since i got home yesterday. my brother how ever did look at the car and first noticed that the 50amp fuse was blown. so he replaced it and fired up the car and from what my father was relayn back to me that it seemed fine.. but the fan did make an odd sound.... ( but why would a fan blow a 50 amp fuse).... but i did get prices on both a fan and that sensor. the guy did tell me that the sensor is one of three that relay info to the computer. and if one of those go bad.. that it throws the who cooling system out of wack... i think im goin to end up getting the fan and ccrm... but its a cool fn 390 for both.... i swear this may be the last straw that may end up selling all my freakn stangs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuuuubaRRRRRRR!

Just get the fan!! You can thank us later.

DDMIs fan went and it would run hella slow and draw some crazy amps causing a sensor to burn up.

Follow the wire from the fan to the little sensor hidden under the coolant tank. (It might be a resistor) I bet that thing is a ghost toasty and the harness is melted.
