Funny thing about the treehuggers is that they are responsible for this mess. If the leak was in 200 feet of water instead of 5000 feet it would have plugged in days, but they won't let them drill that close to shore. Imagine trying to plug a leak nearly a mile down. It will be a miricle if they ever get it stopped. I haven't heard much about the actual cause of the collapse of the oil rig either. Those things shouldn't just fall over. Haven't heard much about the people who died when the oil rig came down either.

Why not? This is only the worst man-made disaster this planet has seen, might as well document it to teach future generations and hopefully keep something like this from happening again.

"The decision by the department's Minerals Management Service (MMS) to give BP's lease at Deepwater Horizon a "categorical exclusion" from the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) on April 6, 2009 -- and BP's lobbying efforts just 11 days before the explosion to expand those exemptions -- show that neither federal regulators nor the company anticipated an accident of the scale of the one unfolding in the gulf. I wonder If Husein signed the Award?

"Whatever the correct citation total — five or six — the Deepwater Horizon's record was exemplary, according to MMS officials, who said the rig was never on inspectors' informal "watch list" for problem rigs. In fact, last year MMS awarded the rig an award for its safety history."
