A Chevy Aveo you could be proud to drive!

Its a 1.4 litre engine so it's going to be fuel efficient, but its turbocharged to get that 138hp so its got some mod potential. The interior is also well designed and looks pretty cool!

And the styling outside doesn't totally suck either, especially for its price point, and it will be in north america for the 2011 model year.

Below is an older article, but the 2011 year has been confirmed (but not with the 19 inch wheels as stated):

    http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/08/c...ready-for-a-r/

For the first time ever, an Aveo will actually have the hardware to be considered a hot hatch. Power in the RS comes from the turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder producing 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque that will also do service in the larger Cruze. The torque gets sent...through a proper six-speed manual gearbox.
MSRP estimates are somewhere between $16,999 and 18,499CDN, so subtract a grand or 2 for the US market.

    Another review from Top Speed:

Could this be the beginning of GM finally taking the japanese (honda) seriously?

It's not a bad looking car really. Course if the car is to have the RS after the name I'll take a Focus RS from the UK please

From what I understand, either the european spec focus or fiesta is supposed to be here for either 2012 or 2013.

As for being "my thing" I have to admit I have a soft spot for small displacement forcefed designs, but at the same time I'm yearning for that rev to 6 grand, dump the clutch, and launch HARD from a stop and run 11's feeling. With FWD, you just cant do that above a certain power level... well I wont say "cant" but let me put it this way: the first SRT4 to run a 10 (10.80's IIRC) trapped about 130. That says alot about its launch (or lack thereof).

I could see this car (the aveo rs) really getting a niche following if there are turbocharger options out there to get it into the 225-250hp range. A fun, nimble commuter car that can be good on gas in the highway cruise, but can simultaneously cut through city traffic with surgical precision due to its size and power.

True, it is a chevy, but hey, the SRT4 was a dodge (and a neon at that!) and look at what it was able to accomplish in its short 3 year run. You never know...

Actually, that car is not a Chevy, its a Daewoo. I have the soft spot for turbo cars myself as I owned a couple turbo dodges, but this thing is seriously too small, and quality in the past had been pretty bad on these cars.

I *think* (and Id have to check this) that they are no longer a daewoo with this gen of aveo. They are also trying to improve the quality control with this generation.

I guess time will tell if it lives up to its potential.
