    Tremec 5-speed in a Galaxie

So..... I think I am going to make my 1964 Galaxie 500 XL a 5-speed. It is currently a 390/417 4-speed. The fabrication issue I may have is the shifter lining up with the console (XLs have buckets and a console). Also makeing a clutch work. Any sugestions on how to aproach this?

I doing a 39 Chevy Cp (For a customer) i installed a LS-1 with a T-56 and the shifter is in the seat, I found the viper T-56 tailhousing moves the shifter forward 3". Also you can move the shifter to one of the forward inspection holes if you need to move forward it takes a little fabrication but it's do able that's a Cobra Kit car trick....

For the clutch I would just use a cable...don't bother with any mech. linkage. You could do a remote mount shifter (like 05+ stangs) or i think mustangs plus makes one for the 65/66 mustangs with late model tranny's. My buddy has a 416 FE in a 67 Marquis with CJ heads. Cool cruiser like your galaxie.

Nice! Yea, my motor had 68 GT-390 heads. I went to the Edelbrock Performer RPMs. It runs great!
