I have a 08 that i am actually selling and it does great on the track and in the woods. I had a CR 125 a CR250 and my YZ250f all at the same time and i would use my 250f 100% of the time in the woods and on the track. The 4stroke just has so much torque that it makes it much more fun to ride. The 250f also kept up with the cr250 very well.
I had my 02 CR-125R and it was sick in woods or on the track..depends on what you like to ride though, if your doing all woods/trail riding I'd get a four stroke...I beat the hell outta my CR through the woods tho, never had a problem with it being a 2 stroke..can't ride a two stroke like a pansy

i also prefer 4 stoke because its save your fuel as compare to 2 stoke bike or car although no doubt that two stoke vehicles are more powerful then 4 stoke but it as you know technology rivals every that's why its time for 4 stokes vehicles..... :)
Coming from a 2-stroke guy, a yz250f is a far superior bike compared to a yz125.
I rode my buddies yz250f and having rode 2 strokes my whole life, i didnt care for it so i ended up getting a good deal on a barely ridden 06 yz 250

Rode my buddies KX250F about a month ago, and man I couldn't believe the amount of power, especially low end. Just picked up another two stroke, but plan on re doing it over the winter. maybe spring time I'll look for a 250F, very surprised by them.

So what about the 4 stroke didn't you like?

its definitely a different animal..... The last 2stroke i had was a 2003 RM250 with a 265 big bore kit... it was a beast and the porting was done to increase bottom-mid range power, so it was a nice transition to a 4stroke... i traded it on a '03 CRF450R, and i felt they were pretty similar in power/speed .... I sold my CRF450R to go to a 2-stroke again, and after riding a few, i just couldn't live without the 4T power... I thoroughly miss the sound and smell of 2smoke, but in every other way, the 4strokes really are superior bikes...
I ended up with my '06 KX450F, and its really a great bike... its only 3 years newer than my CR was, but it feel like its 20 years newer... when riding it, it feels like a 2stroke between your legs... furthermore, the Honda's have always been regarded for their tractor like powerband... smooth and controllable... my KX is a little different... has more power than the CR on bottom, and snaps into the midrange nearly like a 2stroke... its far more powerful at every RPM than my CR, and the snappier powerband makes you smile the way a 2stroke does...
i think the hardest thing for me to get used to was the superior traction that 4T's have... since i don't ride as much as i used to, i still have it engrained in my blood the art of accelerating while spinning the tire some... it just doesn't happen on 4T's and i still to this day occasionally find myself caught off guard when the front wheel comes up and i was looking for a little wheel spin...
As one last note, the one thing i don't like as much about my 4stroke is that i find that in tight woods, i feel i use the clutch as much, if not more than i did with a 2T... both my 4T's stall very easily at slow speed... you wanna believe you can lug it down real low and then feed it some throttle, but they like to stall... i dunno what it was about the 2T, maybe the far less rotating mass, but i felt my RM took less clutch work in super tight woods than my 4T's

Let me clarify this - - - - - OTHER than maintenance....
i really do hate maintenancing 4strokes... i miss being able to just throw some gas in her and go.... you still gotta get gas in a can and take it with you, so the lack of need to mix with oil is hardly a convenience... checking valve clearance, chainging oil after every ride... all the crap you have to do with a 4T is for the birds.... but, its what you gotta do if you wanna ride one of these mean machines
I would definitely have one of each if it were in the cards...

Well for 1, if you dump a 4 stroke it seems like you gotta sit there kickin the shit out of it to get it started again compared to a 2 stroke if you dump it, it fires right back up..and 2nd i dont know if its just the sound difference that make your mind think this but it feels like the 2 strokes accelerate quicker and i like the powerband of a 2stroke..plus i wasnt sure of how costly/time consuming owning a 4 stroke would be with adjusting the valves n stuff every so often..

Very nice bike. That would be my first choice if I were to get a new bike. My uncle had an '02. Great bikes.
