    Got truck issue today.

I took my truck to work today and this morning drove fine no issues at all, sat for 10hrs while i was working and when i went to leave started it up and sat there till the parking lot got cleared out and while i was sitting there is started to idle rough, but rpms stayed constant and did not bounce around and then leveled out again so i pulled out and started doing it again, engine running rough but no jump in rpms then would go away, Did this the whole way home. When i was close to home it did it again, but this time the check engine light started flashing and a loss of power came, but once i slowed down to stop the light went out and went back to smooth driving. Pulled it into my driveway and i havent started it since.

This happen to anyone? Any place i should start checking? I was thinking maybe something to do with spark, but i dont smell fuel.. Coil pack?

    Thanks in advance

    Flashing check engine light=misfire.
Take it to advance auto and have them pull the code, and it will tell you which cylinder has the misfire, more than likely a coil pack.
My '04 w/ 165,000 miles on it has done the exact same thing 4 or 5 times, and each time it was the coil pack.
    Good luck

Did you have the pouring rain today? Sounds like one or more of the coil packs got wet. Look and see if your coil packs are dirty, if so clean them and see if it goes away.

I didn't check them yesterday cause it was raining, but yea it rained all day.. I did how ever go out last night after it sat for a few hours and started it up and it idle'd fine for about 15mins.. didn't drive it though and still sitting at home as I brought the bike today just incase.. going to try to get to advance before they close tonight..

Will the reader still pick up the code even if the light only flashed for 30seconds and hasn't came back on since?

We had an 00 4.6 F150 that did that randomly. CEL would flash every now and then but couldn't pull any codes out of it with a scanner. The CEL never stayed on constant. I replaced the plugs and all the COPS and it's run fine for about 4 yrs now.

My 2000 with the 5.4 did the same thing when I first got it. I replaced all the plugs and the coil packs with a set of accel ones. All has been well since then.

If you shop around scott, try google them for sale or type cheap, sometimes I've seen a few deals on them.
