Who's coming to Norwalk for Ford @ the Summit?

We are getting the cars ready to go. We didn't make it last year, but I heard the turn out was pretty good. How many of you guys are going to make the trip to run? I'm sure most of you guys have been to Norwalk, but for those who havnt gone yet, you have to make the trip to appreciate the facility.

    When is it

  3. #3
It's July 23, 24, and 25th. Go to Norwalk's web site for prices and times. This is Bill Bader's race to replace the defunk Fun Ford race. The prices are cheaper than the Fun Ford ever were. I think it's $65 to race all weekend. This has always been the biggest race me and my freinds look forward to running. Its 3 days of racing, grilling, and hanging out with friends.

I will be there with the Capri.

I saw something that in addition to the three bracket classes, they are having a Q16 or something like that.

Historical race cars coming to the Summit!

On Saturday see the World’s first fuel Funny car in action. In 1964 Jack Chrisman converted a ’64 Mercury Comet A/FX drag car into the “World’s First Fuel Funny Car”. The A/FXer was powered by a Ford 427 wedge engine. For the 1965 season Chrisman updated the body to a ’65 and replaced the “wedge” with a 427 SOHC motor. In 1983 Jim Barillaro, a veteran drag racer, returned to the racing world with the Chrisman Comet. Now Ford fans can see the car on the track at Summit. In addition, Jim Barillaro will also display the famous 1967 Chrisman Flip-Top Comet.
Gary Fore and the “Super Cobra Jet” Funny Car will be part of the Saturday show! This machine was the first Jet funny car built with a 1971 Mustang body. Gary is sure to deliver excitement when he makes passes with the “Super Cobra Jet”. His best performance was 5.70 at 270 mph.

    ANIMAL JIM FEURER
Animal Jim’s first serious race car was a ’57 Mercury that earned the name “The Big Animal” and for good reason. The large bodied Mercury is powered by a 427 Ford Tunnel Port and 4-speed. This 4,000 lb. big body has run in the mid 11’s. The Big Animal will be on display throughout the weekend. Of course Jim couldn’t come to a drag strip and just sit around so he’s bringing “Zeke”, the ’79 Mercury Zephyr Pro Mod. This car has a long history of impressive wins including three World Championships in a row. Jim’s best E.T with “Zeke” was 7.14 at 199.90 mph.
Barillaro, Fore, and Animal Jim will be sure to deliver an unforgettable show - one you won’t want to miss. Make your reservations now for Fords at the Summit. It’s going to be HOT.

OK, so it was a little fcked ;)
Yeah, the whole crew as usual, hopefully a few more guys actually.
Anyone else here want to do a big camp area?
Its harder with the new paved areas, but we used to always take over the area on the car show side, at the top of the track against the fence where they used to have the FFW True Street guys. Its across from the real camp ground but free and better for setting up tents than the asphault.

I may have to be on the racer side, because we might be doing a booth. They are going to have a "power alley" on that side. We have about 5 cars coming with us.

Nice, we may have to stay on that side too. Last year we just parked near one of those grass islands and set up tents, wasn't too bad.
I'll talk to you before the race Scott.

I'm in to pit with you guys. We will have our grill, canopy tent, etc ... At the end of the day, I'm dropping trailer and heading to the motel though ;) As best I've confirmed, I will only have Dale (Red Triumph) from the 2.3 crowd with me, maybe one other.

The good news was that pit space wasnt too bad last year, plenty of room.

Note to self, keep Mark away from Wifey's pit quad ... See that Mark, finish off one already half ass broke mini bike and your labeled for life.

Hey now, it wasn't the welding it was the free POS 'hongdong corp.' motor Josh gave me. I'll get it working for the race though.
Anyone have a golf cart? My least reliable friend has one to bring if he actually shows up, but we'll see.

Scott, I still find it odd so few guys around here think of Norwalk. One of the best tracks in the nation is 3hrs away and its worth the drive.

I will be there regardless with my brothers' cars and at lest 2 friends with cars.
The transmission is supposed to be in my car for testing late tonight, but I've heard that before. If the trans is ready I will definitely go, even if only for low-psi 'learning how to drive an auto' passes :)
If I don't have the car, I'll just be a cheap pit hand for you, will work for beer ;)
I'll give you a ring early in the week to get a plan together so we can all camp together. You have anyone going other than the wife?
And congrats on the chassis cert.
