Glad to help Rob, it's your car and your deal, just trying to help you get your numbers out of it and have some fun :D

Remember that starting line was EXCEPTIONAL last night ... you ARE NOT going to get away with that on most test and tunes. This isnt a bash, just the reality of it.

You wait until you get a solid repeatable set-up. Once you can get it to hook and go straight it becomes real fun. Pick them both up about 6" and carry them out :D

The Hoosiers (that he was running) grow more than the MT's. I love Hoosier tires, but they can be tempermental to burn out process. Rob was getting that pretty spot on.

It doesnt draw much attention, but that car really runs well. The one time I heard the rev limiter taps it seemed like forever. Nice and consistant for sure. You get that sorted so it shifts clean and I think that thing will drop a lot. Amazing for a pretty simple combo.

Sort of got lost in all of us pushing Rob, but your car was running excellent last night too. For a real street car that weights that much, you are getting it done.

Lots was going on there for sure. After what it took to actually get them on there I was hoping it worked out for him.

I think I propbably scared him trying to warn him what the slicks would do. After he got used to the feel it came around.

Oh yeah bob. I remember you saying that last night about conditions.

There it is. Wheels up launch. I love it! !!

Bob, should i consider a ten inch rear? With those wheels, it should fit if i do the arb and nothing flexes. Or just stick with what i ran last night?

The run where it stayed on the rev limiter for quite some time was because I tried to lift and see if it would upshift before the limiter but once I got back on it it never shifted and just slammed the limiter.

They will help but probably wont cure the problem.
For a car like his mostly going to be street driven, good arms, and a bag will help his issues. The twist isnt killing him, it's just pulling the car to the right, then when he shifts, it goes left. For sure an ARB would be the solution, but with his lowered car, tail pipes, etc, etc the bag would just help it stay a little straighter and in the groove. My concern was how much it was dog tracking, if he got out of the groove it could of got messy.

You need to work out a rear combo then decide. Always get as much tire under there as you can because it will be more forgiving to variable track conditions.

That said, I don't see you getting a much wider tire under there unless you can find a 15x8 with a 6.5 BS (not made in Welds). When I had long axles I ran a 15x7 with 5.5 BS (my wheels that was at your place for a while) and that worked better but wouldn't work well with a 10" tire. Look at how little clearance there was on the jack with the tire in the wheel well. Now add even more tread and more sidewall and it seems like no go to me.

I have my 26-11.50-15 Quick Time Pro's (these are the same as a 26-10 slick) on the same wheels if you want to try them, but I dont see it happening. It isnt the static ride, it's the hit, then how much they will grow up top. I donlt know, I tend to be conservative on how tires should fit.

Also remember ... My slicks are tubed and screwed. That acts different on a slick than just having one mounted. You likely wouldn't have got away with that if they was just mounted on a wheel either.

Thats true, though guys do run the ARB on the street. You can also just disconnect the down links just before leaving the track (two nuts). The tail pipes are a definite problem. I had to run dumps. The arms and bags will help but dont expect it to fix the twisting IMO.

Here is a couple pics of my cars with the bag and with the ARB.

The Red one has the ARB and has zero body roll. In good air I get both wheels in the air about 6 inches. This is the only pic I have.

The grey one had the arms and bags with the strange 10way adjustable as stiff as it would go which probably help the most without the ARB. You can see the car still twist a little and the drive side has air under it but the passanger doesn't. (which you can't see.)

I agreee the ARB will always be the best solution. If I could even stand my car with a dump, I would have one on mine too, and just disconnect it for the street. Unless Rob really gets the bug and gets more hardcore on racing, I just don't see living with it is all I'm saying.

For reference, here are a few snips from videos (poor quality) of mine with simply Eibach launch springs (different rates RR vs LR) and an airbag. Far from ideal, but it works.

What you NEED to buy is a set of lug nuts. I only have one set and that was the last time my car will be on radials at the track so I will need them to bolt on my other wheels ;)

Believe it or not, there is a lot tied up in that set-up with Pro-Stars, Slicks, real race tubes, and screws. Find us another set of ProStars and we can talk :D

I agree Bob Im not saying your suggestion isn't a good one. I just had more success with the ARB and probably wouldn't own a fowbody again without one. I had the moroso drag springs with the different spring rates and didn't like the way they handled on the street. Maybe the eibach work better. Either way is good it is just how deep Rob wants to get.

Bob and Mike, I really enjoy the racing stuff on TnT. I probably wont ever go any farther than that. I like to keep it streetable and the ac functioning. I dont want to compromise anything here just for a tenth or two. I would someday like a ten second slip but I think I am far away from that still. If I can make an ARB work with tail pipes then I will do it. To launch straight like that would be awesome!!!

I believe there is a company that makes one that works with the tail pipes Im just not sure which one it is. They are inexpensive and you should be able to do the install rather easy. But like you said with limited track time anything will be better then the stock setup. I look forward to seeing some pics.
