Finally dyno'd the '95 with the AFR 185 comp heads

I made a trip out to see my buddy at Wyotech today to get some dyno runs in. I dyno'd the car there almost 2yrs ago and it made 380rwhp/380rwtq.

    Here's the old graph:

After that I had swapped the AFR 165 heads for a set of AFR 185 comps and ran an 11.5 at 121mph. I knew the car was making good power but I didn't know for sure until today. As you all know the weather was shit today as it was hot and humid as hell out, but I still came home happy. The temps in the dyno room were 90*!!! Here's the basics of the combo:

-dart block based 9:1 compression 331 stroker
    -AFR 185 competition heads
    -Holley systemax intake
    -75mm TB
-FTI cam from my old stock shortblock setup
    -shaft rockers
    -1-3/4 long tubes
    -3" into 2.5" X pipe
    -2.5" cat back
    -under-drive pulleys
    -CAI
    -AEM ECU
    -30lb injectors
    -190lph pump
    -TKO trans
    -4.10 gears

Here's the results... it made 415rwhp/410rwtq!!! To say I'm happy is an understatement! The power curve is everything I could wish for and more. Its days like today that make me continue to second guess putting the turbo on...

    Here's today's graph:

    Congrats again buddy!

Just think if you milled those heads down and get the compression up to 10.5 and had a cam made for the combo and went 3" exhaust the whole way!

I bet you would see 435-450 rwhp!

John- this cam is MILD! Honestly I can not believe that it is capable of what its doing. I don't have the card in front of me but its a 110 LSA, mid 220's duration, and lift in the low .500's. This is the exact same cam that I had run in my stock 302 shortblock combo back when I had AFR 165's and an edelbrock performer intake, that combo made 304rwhp/331rwtq. Ed Curtis at FTI does magic, that all I can say!!! :)

Troy- dare I say it but I'm afraid I'll make too much power. I don't want my TKO and rear end to now be the weak links which they will be with even low boost from my T76.

Joe- Thanks man, its a freaking blast to drive. You know this was never designed to be an NA combo, but the results sure look like it was. :)

Rob- that is all I've been thinking about since the last strap was removed from the car on the dyno. You and I have talked about this before, but if I had any idea that I'd make this kind of NA power and have it be as streetable as it is I'd never have bought the turbo. When I built this most "streetable" 331/347 combos in 94-95's were only in the 330-350rwhp range. The wild ones were the only ones eclipsing 400 and they were far and few in between.

Here's a video of the dyno and a quick street video showing what I mean about how streetable it is. This car doesn't buck, pop, or carry on in anyway... especially for one that is NA and makes over 400 to the tire.

Contrats Paul: I also run a FTI custom cam in my 88 T-top car that is a little more radical on the lift and it's incredable the power you can make with Ed's head, intake, and cam packages. You should be proud.

Just watched this video....is the coolant gauge correct? Looks like it was around 230deg?

I wonder what the tq curve would look like below 2k rpm between the 165's and 185's. Based on your graph's, I see no reason why anyone would ever want the 165's. (unless the valve reliefs don't need notched with them but do need notched with the 185's)
