    How much power will my stock block handle?

    I started looking at turbo kits.....and im planning on upgrading the internals eventually, but dont really want to spend the money on a new block....any idea how much power my stock 281 block will take?

    the block itself will hold a lot. its the internals that wont hold up. upgrade them and you should be good to go

    the block itself will hold over a 1000 but the internals i wouldnt push it over 400 to be safe

    We have pushed the blocks past 1,000 horse power. The stock powdered metal rods on the other hand are your limiting factor. Realistically anywhere over 450 ish horse and your asking for trouble. I know people have made more power on them than that. But there are also 700 wheel horse 5.0's out there and we know they don't take that.

    thanks alot guys....im only gonna run like 6-8psi till i can get internals, then were gonna have some fun ;)

    I would be careful on what turbo kit you go with also, a lot of them have fitment issues and just not made as good!

    Stock cast crank 500 NA

    Rods depends on power and rpm usage.

    you should be fine with that. I have been running about 9 psi a boost for years without any issues. BTW, it makes 405 at the wheels.
