    HVAC guys - need advice

We live in a raised ranch with a 2 car garage. The duct work for the bedrooms run along the garage ceiling. They're currently covered with old fiberfill insulation with a silver covered backing. This stuff looks like it could be original to the house, I've found it behind a few walls. It's beat up, got tears in the backing. I usually have one of the garage doors open - humid outside + cold air in vents = condensation. The condensation wicks through the insulation and drips everywhere. Other than keeping the garage door closed, what's my best option to insulate the ducts? If they're properly insulated then the warm doesn't meet the cold and produce rain in the garage on the clean car, correct?

Also have the AC line running through there, the old foam wrap on that is shot as well.

Remove the stuff that is on the ductwork, and go get some insulated duct wrap. Home Depot/Lowes carries it. It comes in rolls 24" wide by, I think 15' long. Run it lengthwise with the duct, and staple it to the ceiling. Use a good quality tape to seal all the joints. The key is to isolate the duct from the ambient air. Good luck.

While you are at Lowes, pick up some pipe insulation (.75") to insulate the copper refrigeration line that is damaged. It will be easier if you buy the peices that are split with the adhesive on them. Then zip tie the remaining copper line and wiring to the new insulated line.
