    New EMS installed

Not a lot to take pictures of, but I now have my Microsquirt installed, the car starts, and idles. Right now I have it where it will take some throttle, and mostly can free rev to 6200 under no load. I need a couple more hours on the basic stuff, then it's time to start drive tuning it

I started yesterday afternoon with ripping out all of the Ford stuff, swapping injectors, getting the ACT sensor in (GM part) MAP Sensor (GM Part) etc. Had all of the wires to my junction point to start wring this morning. Once all the wires was in place and terminated, spent 10 minutes getting the laptop to comunicate, about 15 minutes to figure out I had the trigger angle backward :( , then 10 minutes to get ti to start (poorly). Messed with the VE table for a few minutes, got it to start, then it came together pretty good.

Effectively, there are no more Ford electronics on the car (EEC-IV, etc), no more mass air meter, nothing.

I have this set up for direct coil control, so the Squirt is providing a trigger to my MSD ignition box, then that is doing direct coil firing.

This also got 80# injectors in there. Amazing how well it controls injectors that big at idle.

Still LOTS of tuning left, but it starts and idles :D

Good luck getting it tuned up before Norwalk.
Supposedly my trans is FINALLY ready, might be making noise on the dyno Monday.

Thanks J ... We wil lsee how the tune comes together. Getting the new clutch in and broke in before Norwalk is the real challenge. Even if it's not well tuned, I'll bring it up there to shake it down anyway ... if the clutch isnt broke in, I'm screwed ...

Hope you get the tranny soon ... good news is those chick sticks don't need no break in :D

    And all of this ...

    Was replaced with this ...

I mountred the squirt out in free air where I can get ot it if needed and let some air get around it. I have the tuning cable under the passenger seat so I can just plug the laptop in and go.

Short video of engine idling on squirt ...

And the exhaust side at idle

    More interesting ...

WB & vacuum gauge at idle ...

    http://rides.webshots.com/video/3003...66453426qzScWB

Digital gauges at idle off laptop ...

    http://rides.webshots.com/video/3079...66453426TGvPMH

VE Live screen ... follow the meatball through the VE table on a couple of idle to 6,000 rpm revs ...

    http://rides.webshots.com/video/3016...66453426qzByko

I have to say, this Tuner Studio MS software FREAKING ROCKS ... During the set-up it was pretty intuitive ... the start-up stuff is great, but this VE live tuning stuff is amazing. I made two passes through the VS table and it mostly got it to where it idles and revs. I can not wait to start drive tuning and see how it works there.

Drove the car a bit today .... Drove out to Mikes, back through New Stanton, probably 60 miles all together.

Got the basic tune stuff pretty good, car starts, drives along under cruise really well, goes under boost to about 10#'s okay. The transition into boost is really good. Actually have rolled to almost 20#'s, but it's still pretty rich up there, if I ease into it it's okay, get after it a bit and it hick-ups from being rich. Just need time and driving up there, pretty tough to do higher boost on the street.

Picked up an exhaust side leak, so it needs to cool and figure that out :(

I definately need to work on the cold start paramaters a bit more, but it's okay, just need to wait for it to warm up or really finesse it when cold. You only get one shot a day at true cold start parameters so it will take time. After it's warmed up it idles great and does what it should. Just part of the tuning.

I need to find this leak so I don't chase my tail with wideband readings.

Yeah, it's pretty neat for sure ... Did I mention the tuner studio software rocks!

Forgot all about that while I way playing with my new toy. I found my leaks so it's a good excuse to drive back ;) As long as we can blame it on one of the wives, we are all good ;)

Might be a new signature ...tuned by my wife on the way to Mike's house :D

Thanks ... I will likely get over there before that (I hope). I really dont need the cover until Norwalk. I only use it to cover the car when I leave it at the track over night.

Good chance I will be at PRP Thursday .. no intention of full power passes, but think it would be REAL helpfull to make passes under boost in a controlled enviroment for tuning. Basically roll off the line, and roll into boost ... should be able to get through 3rd gear in 1/4 mile and not worry about putting it in a ditch.

We will see, lots going on trying to make a car run with a complete new EMS, starting with a dumb box. I've made great headway, but it's the fine details that get touchy.

you mean vandergrift bypass isnt a controlled environment:D i wouldn't want to see it in a ditch either. I will be there thursday with drag radials on and hopefully the suspension too.

gimme a break its been 21 years since i last did this . I'm not a professional like you so gimme some time. I told you you should drive it so i can see what it will really do. I'm pretty sure the tires and suspension will help out alot plus it sorta threw me off while doing a burnout and seeing some big guy waving frantically to get my but moving forward. might have to work on that reaction time to my daughter said i must be to old to react fast:D

The big guy was trying to keep you from embarasing us melting down street tires ;) Maybe if I had the white boots on you would have noticed

Well, you have a host of issues. I am sure tuner studio will work fine on your laptop, but not sure how it will work with that MS I system you have. A lot of the features I'm using are MS II "Extra" code dependant.
