    Looking for a new clutch

Well guys Im in the market for a new clutch and Im looking for some suggestions. My car is a 99 2v with a kenne bell supercharger. It makes 389/387 to the wheels. So Im lookin at roughly 458hp at the flywheel. I eventually wanna up the boost to 15psi so keep that in mind when suggesting a clutch. Thanks.

Clutches are rated for torque holding rather than HP.

I am pretty fond of Spec clutches, and their 3+ is a great piece. (three plus, NOT a stage 3). In general, they are a little grabby, but hold up well. The one in my car held up for 3+ seasons, lots of passes and miles, and it just started to slip under ful boost.

For your application, the 3+ is rated to 790 ft/lbs. One word of warning, follow their break in TO THE LETTER. no power pulls for 400-500 miles. Drive it like grandma for that time, then unleash all hell at it.

It's also a little pricey, but most clutches in that powerr holding range will be. Shop around for pricing, but also check with Shannon at Stinger Performance. He doesn't list the 4.6 applciation as he caters to the 2.3 guys, but is a Spec dealer and can get any of them. For our applciations, he beats everyones prices by a good bit. Tell him I sent you ...

Thanks for the input. I'm not sure I will need the 3+ for my car cause I'm still under 500ft/lbs. I think I will be able to get away with the stage 2 or 2+. This is mainly gonna be a street car and maybe put down a few runs at the track.

If you are going with Spec, I would recomend the 3+ or look elsewhere. My opinion, their clutches tend to be sketchy until you move into the "plus" series. No experience with the 2+ stuff, but know lots of guys that drive the 3+ a lot.

I have a spec 2. It is a little grabby but a good clutch. The pedal is a little stiff. it isn't too bad except for when I am in Pgh rush hour traffic.
