    2011 V6 on the track

Nice vid comparing the V6 models of the 2011 Mustang vs the Camaro and Challenger at Ford's proving grounds in Arizona. You probably know the 2011 V6 has 305 horses - but how does 5.1 seconds 0-60 sound? Enjoy!

I drove one at Carlisle this year (I'm sure I wasn't the only one from here). I was very impressed with it, even though I couldn't really open it up (with the limited course). When I hit second gear it jumped up and I wasn't expecting it to do that. The Ford rep told me they had trouble getting that one. Something about not making them yet. I'm assuming he ment not having the manual trannsmission in them. I have only seen the (2011) automatics so far.

a 5.1 0-60 is really making it hard for me to consider a 99-04 project car. I think I'm going to be pulling the trigger on a 2011 v6 instead. I'm sure in less than a year someone is going to put the SHO headers/turbos on and tune it up. Might as well bite the bullet now :)

First production car in history to have an SAE rated 300hp+ and EPA rated 30+mpg.

Quite a feather in Ford's hat and I'm not sure why they don't use that as a selling feature in their commercials.

I'm almost sure I saw one that did. Also read an interview where people at Ford were puzzled why the under 30 crowd as a whole (not guys on here obviously) couldn't care less about the V8 and are lusting over the 6. For me personally, 300 horsepower still doesn't get me to care about the 6, it's cool that it's actually quick now, but if I want anything with 6 cylinders it going to be German or a 370Z.

I think the new V6 would make for a great DD. Especially for someone that does a lot of highway cruising. Not only is it the only 300+ hp car to get 30 MPG it's also the only RWD car regardless of hp to get that kind of mileage with the exception of the 2.0 Genesis coupe which only makes 210 hp.

I seem to stick my foot in my mouth with saying this but I alwayz had a hatred for the V6 Mustang, even before I acquired mine! If hooked up right they could be tastefully modded but just sssoooo freakin many of them, plus it totally ruined the Mustang image and played them out. I see them everywhere!! When me and a couple of my buddy's see them were like ummm oohh look another peice of fece! Btw, my next door neighbor and good friend just picked up a 370Z and its baaaadd!!

Yeah, the base model will always be the one to carry the car financially. I have respect for Ford for making the car an actual performance car when they probably didn't even have to. It just sucks I have to watch out for every secretary in '11 V6's now when I'm driving my Cobalt!

I would think you'd be watching out for someone who TT's their V6 instead.

I really doubt I would have much of a problem with one on a road course. Straight line? That's another story.

Ever been on track with an 08 and up SS? My mustang went 1:06's at the redline time attack back in '06 on Toyo RA-1's (making 280ish whp), this car went 1.09's off the showroom floor with 800 miles on the stock tires. They really are no joke on the track, it is a shame they have a backwards hat stigma attached to them rivaling that of an early 90's civic. Maybe someone will chime in and support how quick that lap time is for a bone stock car on Conti Contisport contacts. And it did it repeatedly.

LOL I wasn't being serious... your comment just triggered a memory of miata owners espousing how they'll "own you in the twisties"

Yeah, those guys are hilarious. Next time you have to ask them if they can actually get away from their boyfriend long enough to actually drive the car on the track.
