Droid X

Anybody see this thing yet? I have been researching it for the last hour or so. Ever since my brand spanking new BlackBerry shit itself again. When I say brand new, I am talking 1 hour. Lost all sound and the speaker is blown out. I think I may shove it up somebodys ass tomorrow morning when I go on my rampage at the Robinson store.

Anyways, the X is supposed to come out at the end of this month. Its looking like my next phone. If you want to call it that. Amazing is an understatement with the device. 8MP camera. 8 hour talk time on the battery. 4.3" screen. So much more that I forget.

I will be looking at the reviews carefully on this as well. I will not buy a smart phone until they can make the battery last for more than one 1-2 days with light use. I refuse to take a charger to work just so my phone can make it thru the day.

I haven't seen anything about the Droid X, but it sounds an awful like my phone... I have the new Evo 4G for sprint.... 8MP camera, 1 Ghz processor, 4.3" ridiculously large, ridiculously awesome screen, and all the capabilities of a laptop...... I love my phone... little thing is cool as hell, and literally does EVERYTHING.....

There's only 2 downfalls.... 1) is battery life, as expected... i have to charge it every night, but really never do i have to hook it up in the middle of teh day or anything.... and 2) you have to get used to just how absolutely HUGE the screen is... its a big phone to have in your pocket, and actually typing text messages was hard for me to get used to at first.... since the screen is so big, the letters are really far apart on the keyboard compared to any other phone i've ever had.... however, the phone's spell checker is phenomenal, so hitting wrong keys gets corrected with the right word 95% of the time...

Seriously, its the baddest phone ever made.... i don't have any complaints...

Droid X is the shit... def. the best phone of the year so far. it's the size that concerns me, that's all... The HTC Incredible is a sick phone too.. i like it more than my DROID 1

oh, i beg to differ..... lol... it sounds like the same phone as the Evo 4G...

Another thing i will say that is so great about the Evo.... the screen is holding up really well for me.... My previous touch phones had just those small, little, hardly visable scratches, just from normal use.... after 3 weeks, this thing's screen looks the way it did the day it came out of the package.... i think its pretty impressive...

I would fully expect that Motorola has done something similar to make the screen as durable

edit: i just looked at the specs on teh Droid X.... it is pretty much the same phone as the Evo 4G, except it has expandable memory... the Evo has the 8GB internal, but no external memory expansion... looks like the Droid X has a SD slot that allows you to expand the memory to 40GB.... and the X doesn't have the 4G capability, but i think that's a Sprint thing, not necessarily the phone....

Rob - if i see you at a car show or something, you're more than welcome to mess around wiht my phone and get a feel for what the X will be like..... i still have your ramps anyhow, so i can bring them down sometime ... i've been trying to return them for a year now lol

I'm not knocking the Evo, i'm actually not familiar with it at all, but the droid x for sure is on top of the game right now, and i would say by far kills that new iPhone. The X doesn't have a 4G capability, but unless i live in a big city, i really doubt that we could even get 4G in this area. Lets face it though, we all know by now with these new high tech phones that battery life, and processor speed make or break these things. This phone tech is really just tipping the ice berg at this point... wait till android 3.0 comes out. As far as i know even these earlier droids won't even have the firmware upgraded past 2.2 or 2.3 due to not having the power to support it... at least i believe...i forget what i've read now.

I shouldnt say this but I had one in my hand today. Wont say where. It is a solid inch longet than my storm2, about 1/8 inch wider but its a good bit thinner except for the buldge on top for the camera. Mine is on hold for the opening day. Its nice to have management as friends and family.

I qas just thinking about the ramps too. HAHAHAH I actually had the X in my hands today. I was told that since there was nobody else in the store and I was the fiorst one there, she had me come down the hall behind the counter where there are no cameras. I really like it. It is going to take some serious time to get used to it. You are correct also, it has an 8G memorw with a 32G expandable drive. It has a sweet tezting option. Something called slide text. Basically slide your finger on the screen to the words you want and it picks them up. Endless apps. Tons are free, othere as we know are pay. Batery life is incredible too. Cant really test it in the store but she said they use it a good bit with internet useage and it goes through minimal batttery life. It claims 8 hours talk time/ internet use and 220 stand by. I will for sure be testing it on Friday at work. My storm2 right now goes through 2 solid batteries each day. I have 5 spares.

yea i don't think the battery life will be any good, but as you said, the android market (the app store) is ridiculous.... tons of free stuff..... that texting thing you are talking about was introduced by Samsung in the Omnia 2 and i thought it was cool as hell..... it'll take some tiem to get used to the size, but eventually u get used to it, and all other phones look pathetic... LOL

HAHA oh yeah. The texting thing seems nice. I will have a good review on it come next weekend after some frustrating hours with it. I hope the battery is as good as they say it is. It really blows when mine runs out and the day is only half over with no charger near by. I think the size might be a slight burden at first but as you say, I will get used to it in no time. Shoot, my storm2 outsized my old LG by 2 times. Got used to it real quick. HAHA Another inch isnt anything.

I was able to play with one today .... all I can say is iPhone for sale I'm getting a new phone Thursday!

Exactly!! My storm 2 will be on eBay Saturday for sure. I am off tomorrow so I will just go to the store in the morning and get mine. Try for a starter lesson on it too. Hahaha
