Some of you have met my buddy Dale at either the NMRA or UMTR stuff. He has (had:( ) a really nice Triumph with a 2.3 Turbo Ford. The car is really well put together, very nicely built chassis that mostly looked stock from the outside. In addition to drag racing he did some road racing by just swapping wheels and tires and a few springs ... Anyway, here is what happened ....

I went to Indianapolis to an open track event at ORP over the weekend. We were running the road course when a guy in front of me blew a hose and watered down the track. I was going 120 MPH and still accelerating when I went through the water. They use the drag strip as the main straight for the road course which is where the water was. The car snapped into a left hand turn straight into the concrete wall. I have stitches in my face and in my knees from hitting the dash but I will survive. Not sure how I ended up cutting my face since I had a full face helmet. Pictures are attached.

That sucks. He is lucky he didn't get hurt worse. Those little Euro cars don't seem to crash worthy.

I don't think the pictures do the damage to the car real justice. The entire front suspension is junk and pushed back, and if you look close you can see both doors blown out (actually DS out, PS in). The only thing that kept it "together" was a pretty well build roll bar.

As John said, Safety gear FTW. The car is junk.

Sucks to see Bob. Josh and I had dinner with Dale in Columbus, very good guy and I really liked that car, cool as hell.
I'm glad he's OK, tell him I said to get back on the horse---build it better and faster :)
He gonna build another one?
