2010 Historic Races at BeaveRun 7/17-18

Anyone going out to BeaveRun this weekend for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Historic Races?

    Here's a link with a description:
    http://www.pvgp.org/6746931219135011/site/default.asp

and here is the actual racing schedule:
    http://pvgp2.schoolwires.net/6746981...BCOB=0&c=52914

I'm planning to head down there on Saturday - hopefully in my '66. I've gone to this event for years, and it is an absolute BLAST! Watch the racing, walk thru the pit areas, see the cars up close, talk to the owners / drivers...it's a great time!!

Anyone else? Guys - this is a really great event - where else can you see tons of cool older cars getting thrashed on a road course for a few bucks??

I'll be there around 9am - hopefully in my green '66 - parked up on the hill somewhere near the BMW tent. If you see it, ask around for me - I'd like to meet ya!

Had a great time at BeaveRun on Saturday. Nice and sunny, but pretty darn hot...with lots of great racing. Saw a few other Mustangs there - nice black '03 Cobra ( maybe u1arunit's old car ? ) and a few S197s.

Some of the racers were early vettes, some '65 thru '67 Mustang coupes, Triumphs, Porsches, BMWs, Aston Martins, Maseratis, Alfas, MGs, Lotuses, and lots of Formula Vees. There were a few accidents, but it didn't appear that anyone was hurt - other than maybe a few fenders and some pride...

I think I was running back to a driver’s meeting from drooling over the '66 GT40 and the Bud Moore Boss 302 when you pulled in on Saturday. I made a comment to my friends about the clean ’66 driving by and the unusual color (in a very good way, I realy like it)… being up since 6am kept from realizing that that was you until a minute or two later. Unfortunately, the autoX schedule was so hectic that I was racing/about to race or working the whole day, so I didn’t get a chance to come back over.

I’ve been to the Schenley Park races to watch a few times in the past, but this was my first time at the BeaveRun events. I have to say that from what I saw, I was very impressed. Definitely an excellent way to spend a weekend for anyone into cars, especially with the wide variety that was there

Hey - thanks for the kind words on my '66! The color is Ivy Green and is about the only numbers-matching part of the car. :D

I agree with you - it was a great way for a gearhead to spend a day. Did you see the For Sale sign for the Bud Moore Boss 302? It said "Reasonably Priced at $100,000. Yowza!! I guess it is probably worth that - looked pretty clean to me, and as the day wore on, it seemed to run better and better on the track. The original GT40 was awesome to put it mildly - definitely a piece of history.

If you come down to Schenley Park this weekend, bring your Mustang to the show and track me down ( ask for Ron George ). I run the American Car show there. Registration is $25, but all proceeds to to our charities, the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Alleghenny Valley School. ( for those afflicted with autism ). We always have a great group of Mustangs at the show, and the owners are good people - I've known many of them for a very long time.

ooh ok, cool. If he races in ESP, I've met him before. He's friends with my buddy that talked me into starting autoX, I think he has even driven his STi a few times.
