My brother-in-law actually had another car with a 312 that had the T-Bird F code McCullough supercharger on it with the variable-width pulley that changed the drive rpms for more or less boost. It ran purty well.
You may have seen or heard of the "Hoosier Hurricane", a '57 Ford that had the supercharged 312 in it... saw it run 12 flat and high 11's at the Expo Ford event in the '90's at Kilkare Dragway in Xenia, OH !

Y-blocks seemed to have had rod problems and oiling problems for the rocker arms.

I was at that years Expo I bet. I really like the Y-block. I want to build a rod with one. Something very old school. All sheet metal, no fiber. :)

That was '93, over Labor Day weekend, if I recall correctly.
My favorite cars were the Buckwheat Fairlane and the old Jack Chrisman Comets... the '65 with the blown wedge 427 and the '66 flip-top "funny" with the SOHC 427 !

People will first think the Y block is an early small block Chevy if they see it in a rod !! May as well run a flathead !
