    "G-Tech" for your smartphone anyone?

Im buying a smartphone, probably google's phone because I like the android platform (ease of programming your own aps) and because it has a built in accelerometer.

For those with smartphones running android, im thinking about trying to code a "g-tech" like applcation for smart phones with an accelerometer in them. About two years ago I posted a (simplified) way how g-tech works via accelerometer and numerical integration techniques. Is there anyone out there would be interested in such an app for your accelerometer-equipped smartphone?

There was a similar app for the iphone called Torqued! I have it on my ipod touch, it's a neat toy. The developers wanted to add OBDII port controls, not sure if they ever did, I haven't followed up on it in awhile. My fiance has an Incredible, so I'd def be interested for kicks. I'm stuck with a Storm that can't get out of its own way.

Scorp, break your Storm and get a Droid X. Thats the best thing I ever did. Got mine yesterday. Its the best phone I ever had. Smoking fast internet too. The storm would take a solid minute to load this site and longer for corral. They are both instant now.

Philly, why not. I'd try it out.

    I'll have to give mine a try in the Probe, I ran a 15.0 @ 92 at PRP on the stock 1 7/8 exhaust. I added a 2 1/4 exhaust and a 3" K&N, if it's in the 14.5-14.7 range I'd say it's accurate.

I HATE the Storm. It was her phone, I was up for an upgrade and she needed a better smartphone so my upgrade got her an Incredible and I took the Storm. It's a great phone. I've got to wait until Feb/March before her upgrade comes up. Been hoping for the Verizon iPhone by that time. If not, I'll go with whatever Android based phone they have.

Its doubtful that apple will grant verizon the iPhone. Especially after verizons making fun of it. HAHAH The Droid X blows it out of the water.

Verizon is so bad where I live you can't even send a text message... even with a Droid X.

I have heard stories similar to your as well. But I have not had any problems with the phone service but the internet is horrible. I get reception everywhere but I do not travel out of my bubble though.

I would use what ever service provider that works best where I live, just so happens to be AT&T.

That's wierd Greg... I switched from AT&T long ago because verizon smoked them in terms of coverage in this area. I travel from Somerset all the way up to Clearfield, down to Bedford and east to State College and Chambersburg. Verizon, for me, was 100% better than AT&T.

I too have a storm and HATE it... I too hoped Verizon would get the iPhone by the time I upgraded although I was told on my last time in the verizon store that it was highly unlikely they would ever get it now since they have the Droid. I messed with one and was blown away by how fast the internet was.

Philly, I'd love to try something like a G-tech program when I get a new phone.

I can't get a grip on that, I have a company phone through Verizon and it sits in my glovebox 99% of the time. The owner of the company I work for even swithched to AT&T... he got tired of not being able to make calls on our job sites. (northern Somerset co and southern Cambria)

I love my iPhone, Battery life sucks though. I'll have the iPhone 4 as soon as it is in stock, You can't pre order without a credit card and I don't have one.

The Dynolicious app looks interesting but I'm waiting to see what others say before spending $13 on it.

When is your upgrade? I just kept breaking phones and getting new ones. Kept bitching about it. Went last Saturday and told the manager I had full intentions of shoving the storm up his or somebodies ass. Well, they moved my date and I got two X's on Thursday. Mine and hers. Our upgrade wasnt till October.....next year.

And yes, the X has smoking fast internet. I love it.

I read a bunch of the reviews and there is still enough doubt for me to not get it yet. I have the G-tech and agree it's a POS.

well it sounds like its worth getting the google development phone and giving this a try. Thanks for the responses.

I noticed that since I have an accelerometer being able to measure lateral G wouldn't be a bad thing to measure as well in a later release... thanks for that post!
