Pilot bearing problems..

Thats the last time i rent a tool from advanced, the pilot bearing puller pretty much just destroyed the bearing instead of acutally pulling it out. Anyone have any other ideas on how to get A pilot bearing out? I'm going to try to find a better puller but this bearing is pretty shredded. Any quick fixes possibly?

use a die grinder and cut a slit in the bearing. then pull it out. that is usually a last resort when you can't get them out or have nothing to grab onto for the puller to work.

I have 2 different pullers and have to use both to get the bearing out of mine. One always pulls the center bearing part out and then I use the other to get the outer part out. Its a real PITA, maybe someone else on here has experience with a better tool?

Yeah the tool i used after about 5 tries just managed to pull the center out, other than that its been shredding the bearing. But thanks bg i'll try to get my hands on a grinder and get it out.

Here is an easy way to get one out, pack inside of bearing with heavy grease, find a socket just smaller than the inside diameter of bearing, hit multiple times with brass hammer, replacing grease as needed, and bearing will pop out. I have done this multiple times and works great without destroying bearing.

It makes a mess but it works if you can get something that is nearly the same size as the pilot bearing I.D.

the grease works great, ive also just used a chisle,hammer and safety glasses to remove them.

using grease usually works but if it doesnt sometime the only thing to do is use a grinder and try to cut it, just be VERY careful not to hit the crank. i had to cut mine out when i was putting my car together. i tried for hours using other methods it just wouldnt budge

Shes out worked like a charm. trannys back in with driveshaft and now its just time to put the H-pipe on and break in the clutch!
