they were a POS... way over spec'd and priced and rated... garbage, these GT-Rs are fo realz yo.. jeremy puts it in perspective lol, but yeah, i'd be hittin that magic button, chances are they'll throw warranty back in your face anyway... Make sure your friend reads his owners manual and understands that if he turns "ON" Launch Control he voids his warranty. From what I've seen on the web, GTR transmissions are weak and run excessive of 20K to replace.
