Just some of the joy that is caused by hanging a hair dryer off the side of your engine ... Exhaust leaks and cracked parts.
This whole deal started with an exhaust leak that turned into three ... okay, I can fix that. While trying to find the last leak, I hear a noise in the short block. Tear into that and find bent rods ... okay, it's expected pushing stock junk to 400 hp, and the leak likely saved me a dance in my own oil at the track at some point ...
So I get the first crack I found welded up, change shortblocks, and put in a new clutch all together ... 1st crack welded up ... Notice of course, it isnt going to crack where it's wasy to get to ...
Put it all back together, fire the whole new deal up, only to hear another FREAKING exhaust leak ... Yep #1 runner is cracked right at the flange, and oh yeah, while really looking at that, there are cracks in all 4 primaries ...
Get those welded up, fire up the car again ,and all is good Start drive tuning and break in on the clutch last night and things are going great. Finally stops raining, so we headed out on another drive to get miles on the clutch and drive tune worked out. Things are going pretty well until another leak is heard ... Start home and it's getting worse the whole way ... Get home to find this ...
So another trip tomorrow night to the welder, another turbo gasket set, and a few more hairs off my head ...
Yeah, sign me up for another turbo car
