    Looking for a clutch

My buddy had a 90 fox gt w/ a new motor about to be dropped in w/ a procharger. He will be making around 500 rwhp and needs a clutch. He is extremely hard on things and is the dump the clutch and go kinda guy. He has looked into a McCleod twin disk and likes them but is wondering what other options he has for a twin disk. Do you 5.0 guys know of any other twin disk clutches he might want to check out.

If he dont have his mind set on a twin disk and wants to save a few bucks, my spec 3+ has held to 733 rwtq so far, and is still streetable

I'll second that. My spec stage 3 held up to relentless 2nd and 3rd gear senseless clutch drops from a standstill. And then the next year lived through a full race season of hillclimbing with a T-trim. Twin disk is nice for the light pedal though, but $$$$.

To pile on, the Spec 3+ is a pretty amazing pice IMO. A little pricey, but worth it to me (likely much cheaper than a twin disc).

I had the most power Spec had seen through a single 3+ at 900rwtq.
I thought it was a great clutch, better than the regular 3 puck-style I had.
At his power level, I'd recommend a single 3+ or if he's got the cash, the twin disk.
I have a friend at Spec, let me know if he wants his contact info.

Agreed. I got a Spec Stage 2+ in my 2005 Supercharged Mustang GT. It is a pretty good piece of equipment.

I would recommend Spec... Hell, I wear their t-shirt too :P

I'll add to the agreement on teh Spec 3+ ... that's what i had in my TT T/A and it was awesome..... it was a bit stiff, which was awkward, considering the T/A had a hydraulic clutch, but i got used to it quickly...

Well Ive told him about the Spec stage 3 plus and he would rather go w/ a twin disk just for the pedal feel. The only 2 I know of for him is the Spec and the McCleod one. Are there any more and which ones do you guys think would be the best?

Either one will be fine. 500 rwhp is pretty tame these days, I think any twin-disc is overkill for that power level. But the light pedal is nice if he doesn't mind paying more than double the money. I never thought my 3 was that heavy.

My old Ram Powergrip HD handled 500+ rwhp for a few years and was a very nice clutch that I would use again in a heartbeat!

Nice and cheap to! Summit keeps them in stock!

A twin disk is def overkill for 500hp, but at least it will give him a lot of room to grow if he ever decides to....plus i dont think he'll have clutch failure issues lol

Probably, but it won't last long if you hook it at the track, trust me :)
