    GS500 versus Farcanned Civic

(I know, its weak, but there isn't much around right now and Im rural, I'll take what I can get. All speeds posted are in km/h. 100km/h = 62mph)

Cliffs: Yeah, the result was what you expected.

    Long:
I opened the door to the bright sunlight as I prepared for an enjoyable 35km ride home from work. Glad to be out of the artificial light, I strap on my helmet while my bike warms up. I decide today I'll take the longer way home hoping I'll encounter some other bikers to ride with or some fun with some cages along the way.

A black civic, late 90's style with a fartcan did not disappoint.

It didn't matter that I was on the main road and he wanted to turn from a side road. It didn't matter that I had the right of way. It didn't matter that his left turn to go in my direction of travel, although doable, would leave me quite close for comfort.... close enough to know he got his fart can from Canadian Tire.

Pissed that this ricer couldn't wait an extra 3 seconds for me to pass (there was absolutely NO TRAFFIC behind me) and the fact that he's dead nuts on the speed limit of 80, I decide he's a douchenozzle and he's getting passed at the first opportunity. I go to pass on the broken yellow when the douchenozzle decides just before it goes broken that he's going to speed up! I had a rough day at work and the last thing I want to hear is the sound of a weedwacker crossed with a flatulent cow from some Tokyo Drift wannabe who wants to play "lets **** with the biker".

"Okay, buddy, you wanna play that way, eh?" I say to myself as I drop two gears from 6th to 4th and snap the throttle open. The engine roars to life as my parallel twin sucks in all the air it can be fed by my pair of Mikuni carbs. The tach quickly jumps from 6,000 to its 11,000rpm redline as I pull into 5th at which point I'm past the civic. I twist the throttle so tightly I think I'm going to wrench it off the clipon as the tach starts it climb through 5th. The wind rushing past my leathers starts to tug them annoyingly. I relish in the war on two fronts- one from the civic and the other from air resistance. I tuck in tight maximizing every pound of torque from my 487cc, overhead cam motor to be converted into acceleration. A few thousand RPMs into 6th I let off, break tuck a little, and look in my mirror to see where he is before I brake for an S turn rated for 70.

The civic is so far back its rediculous.

Smiling, I enter and exit the S getting some practice on proper turning technique before settling into a 110km/h cruise to home.

Nothing beats riding into the sunset after a fresh kill even if it is a ricer.

Thanks! I wanted to get back into practice now that I have something fast enough to mess around with cars. I know its the "SOHC Civic of the bike world" and its not an 10/11 second bike but its still fast enough to have some fun.

Its not like I have the neon anymore with near weekly battles with mustangs and 350z's :)

haha battles with mustangs huh. I just rather enjoy the ricer that that thinks my mustang is still the stock 265 hp version running high 14's in the quarter. Just have to watch out for the occasional J&S evo or STI that runs 10's-9's lol

LOL yep... I used to own a turbo neon and when I lived in Pitt I would have near weekly battles with a certain white mach1 roaming the countryside. Then life got in the way and the neon was sold. Early spring I'll have a mustang in the garage, though.

You got a point though in that there's always something faster. Evo's and STi's are a crapshoot. some run 13's, some run 10's.

The Honda CB series is probably my 3rd favorite. They are bulletproof reliable engines with solid engineering.

this is some funny chit. you are a literary artist.

I didn't look at who started the thread at first and actually misread the title and thought it said "GT500" and was like "Why in the f*ck would he even waste the gas."
