    Steelers 2010-2011

I thought I would start a thread because its FOOTBALL time again!

    To start off, Big Ben.

Seems like the sports shows on the radio are wondering if Ben will get booed or cheered. No one is going to boo him once he hits the field, when ever that will be.

Never the less, lets go STEELERS!

My Miller jersey is ready for Saturday night.

What are you guys thoughts on the up coming season?

I'll be there tonight - taking my 10 year old daughter to her first game.

Lots of question marks for our team this year. QB situation is the most important of them. Then we need to see if Mendenhall can carry the load without Willie Parker. Then - can Mike Wallace step up big to fill Santonio's shoes? Can the O-line come together and keep our QB clean, especially during the first 4 games while Ben isn't in there to scramble? Will Aaron Smith and Troy Polamalu be 100% and back to form? It goes on and on.

Then you have to factor in that the Bengals and Ravens are improved over last year. They made some nice moves in free agency. Ravens look strong on offense due to the addition of Boldin, plus Rice and Flacco have another year under their belts. Their main concern is that their defense is already thin in the secondary due to injuries, and as a whole they are getting older ( as is our defense ). I'm not yet sold on the Bengals - at least their defense. I know they were good last year, and won the division. But they only won by one game after sweeping all 6 division games. Benson, TO, and CO should make their offense pretty solid. I don't expect their defense to be as good as last year - now they play a division-winning schedule. Look for their D to struggle a bit compared to last year.

So for the first year in a while, I really don't know what to think about our chances. I do kindof like the fact that NOBODY is picking us to win the division this year. I think the Steelers love being the underdog / counted out. And that's the way I like it too. The fans definitely have a chip on their shoulders and cheer louder when it is us against the world.

    GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!

Well - we were completely soaked, but still had a good time. Headed into the Great Hall with 2 minutes left in the half, then some lightning was spotted and everyone headed for cover. Delay lasted for quite a long time as we attempted to drip-dry. Finally we were allowed to return to the seats and play resumed. The weather was really nice from that point on.

We took a PAT bus from Moon directly to Heinz Field. Talk about a good deal! $2.75 one way for me, and $1.35 for my daughter. You can't beat that, especially for a preseason game when you're not heading into town really early to tailgate. I'm pretty sure the bus does NOT run for the 9/2 game vs Carolina, but it does run during the regular season.

Lord Byron didn't look too good. Neither did Mendenhall. Same goes for Flozell and the starting O-line. Very shakey to say the least. Dixon looked really solid, and holy cow Antonio Brown! NICE!!! Redman looked nice too. Jeff Reed - say what you want about him, but damn can the guy kick! He may win us a few games, especially early in the season while Ben is out. Defense looked pretty good. Jesus - did Silverback ever throttle the Lions' starting left tackle on 2 occasions!! I can't wait to see it on the highlight films!! It was great to see Aaron Smith back - he's just so damn good. And the crowd went nuts when Troy was announced before the game. If our D stays healthy it will easily be in the top 3 in the league this year. To say it is loaded is a gross understatement.

Maybe we'll see Ben for a few snaps next week. I suspect we'll see more of Byron as well...and probably less of Dixon than we did tonight. He may be the real deal - only time will tell. His escapability might come in really handy if the O-line doesn't gel early in the season...

A loud crack with 1:31 left in the half and they cleared the seats. Disappointed that Ben didn’t get to play. A good time nonetheless.

looks like Dixon has officially played himself out of a shot at the starting job for the first 4 weeks...

The first 4 games is going to hurt big time. I am crossing my fingers for atleast 2-2. If Ben gets more than 4 games out, we are done.

BRING BACK COWHER. That is all.

You know if Cowher was the the coach tonight he would of grabed dixon by the face mask and laid into him same goes for Leftwich.

On another note I cant decide on what jersey to order. Do I want to go throwback, or old school Lambert or Green. Cant decide. I already have a Offical Heath Miller jersey, and a wal mart screen print Kordell Stewart from a long time ago.

Their was a guy at Trader Jack in Bridgeville earlier in the summer selling used jerseys....all Maddox and crap players screen prints from wal mart. haha

I'm excited that they brought back the leading tackler, McFadden. He was well missed in the secondary.

I still can't figure out why they got rid of Holmes? They kept players who had done worse, so there must have been a secondary reason.

    Serioulsy?

Maybe early 90's Bill Cowher would of done something like that, but not post Super Bowl Bill Cowher.

Plus, do you really want Bill Cowher back? Seriously...why do sports fans in this town have such a hard time letting go of the past, and looking at the present and future? If you don't like Tomlin for his style or coaching that's fine, but Cowher? Really? Can't we move forward instead of bringing in what used to be? I just don't get it...

Talent > Emotion...all the high school football tactics in the world aren't going to make an NFL player play better. That's how I feel about the grabbing of the facemasks and chewing out at the pro level of sports.

Check out www.borntrades.com for your jersey question btw...

So true, plus Cowher is/was one of the worst when it came to managing the clock. I never cared for Bill much.
