Home owners wont cover car parts

Just got off the phone with State Farm, and they will not be covering any of the parts that got stolen from my garage. Such B.S.

So I think I'll be parting the car out in the near future.

Wow, I'm going to be buying a house very soon, I'll make sure to cross state farm off the list for home owner's insurance. I guess I should make a point to ask each company if they cover stuff like that.

Wick, are there any insurance companies that do?

It's crazy to think about. You own a garage...you store your car and car releated items in your garage....and thats not covered.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Do you have car insurance with them? If so ask them whether the car parts are covered under the car part or the house part but either way you should be covered.

Yeah Dan. Car insurance. From what the bitch, err agent, said. No matter what, car insurance covers the car. The house can burn down with the car inside and it wont be covered. I have state farm for everything and she said it would beon the auto policie. Makes no sense cause it was garaged and locked in the house. Now all other contents of the home are covered. But not the auto.

yeah they consider cars a moveable object. i looked into flood insurance before. wouldn't cover cars since a moveable object regardless if torn down or not.

I have travelers my garage is covered along with contents in the garage. You just decide how much coverage you want on contents. Of course the more coverage the more cost

That's pretty ridiculous but the insurance industry is all about technicalities I guess...gotta make that money somehow right?

Come to think of it, I do remember when I was like 13 or 14, my parent's detached garage was robbed. They stole my dad's 4 wheeler, his Honda XR400 and my KX125...we found out the hard way that they weren't covered, the only way they would be is if they were used for keeping the grounds, i.e. a lawn tractor. I joked to my dad that we could say sometimes I tilled the garden with the back tire of the KX :D

We took a hit on all three things, they recovered my dad's Honda in someone's basement 2 months later after 4 people had posessed it, beat to hell and back and worth nothing. We never did find the 4 wheeler or my KX.

My sister is a licensed associate agent for Panichelle Financial Group, LLC and I asked her about the parts being covered or not inside of a garage, and she said they most def. are (with nationwide). If you guys want to talk to her about home owners, car insurance, ect. Give her a call between 9-5 M-F at 724 327 2600. Ask for Cassandra, she'll hook you up!

I wish I had Nationwide. :) My dad talked with his Allstate agent, and the parts appeared to be covered with them. Unfortunately, since it was my stuff as his house, my insurance has to pick it up. I wish they would have been "his" parts that got stolen!!

Damn man!!! All technicalities!!! His parts, your parts, who cares!?!? It was in his garage. Nk matter what we all lose. If it was his parts it would have been something else. Bottom line is they hate claims. Never want to pay.
