    Prayers Needed.

A friend of mine was in a motorcycle accident this morning around Ten Am near Rt 51 and the Practice Tee. He apparently swerved around to miss a deer, and the road he was on is terrible to begin with. Lost control with the passenger, laid it down and got pretty tore up..hole in his knee about 1 1/2 inches deep, bleeding kidney, extreme road rash to the face, arms, side and leg. The passenger sustained two broken ribs and other misc. injuries such as road rash, ect. They were taken to Mercy where they are in the trauma unit for right now. They're both in need of some prayers, if anyones able to please do. Thank you for your time and to all you motorcycle riders, PLEASE BE SAFE and never let your concentration down past 100%.

My prayers go out to them. It is things like this that make me think twice about getting my motorcycle license. The wife doesn't want me to get it anyway. There are just no fender benders on bikes.

I really understand you..unless I'm not feeling completely one hundred percent I won't think about touching my bike or going anywhere on it..Even riding on back roads scared me, and it just shows it can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

My thoughts are with them. Accidents really take a toll physically and mentally. I hope they pull through with as little permanent damage as possible.

Riding a motorcycle is inherently more risky. However, there are steps you can do to mitigate the risk. The most important things are rider education, improving your riding technique through practice or courses, and wearing protective gear. I had an accident quite a few years ago that made me take a long hiatus from riding. When I came back to motorcycling, I took advantage of the MSF courses, improving my skills on low-powered bikes, and ALWAYS wearing excellent safety gear (FULL FACE snell approved helmet, gloves, boots, and leathers or textile suits with body armor in key places). It doesn't make me immune to injury should I have a crash, but I feel better about riding given the choices I've made to reduce my risk before I even swung my leg over the bike.

Besides, people have horrific car accidents every day. Did that stop you from getting your car license?

Amen. Wear you gear fellow riders, not just for you, but for your wife/girlfriend, mom, dad, brothers, sisters, and everyone else who cares about you. they may not be too thrilled (like many of my loved ones) about your decision to ride what or how you do, but you can invest in some nice gear to help relieve some of that tension every time they see you pull out of the garage.

My prayers go out to these injured riders, and all of us out there. Ride safe.
