    Good concealed carrying guns

Well i'm gonna b 21 in 3 weeks and am starting to look for a good sub-compact pistol that i can carry thats easy to conceal..my dad has a Glock 27(.40cal) and i like it n everyone says glocks r one of the best but it is a little to thick to carry tucked in your pants for the summer months, i put it in his hip holster and it stuck out like a sore thumb while wearing a t-shirt, during the winter it wouldnt matter..i've looked at several other guns: Springfield XD40 sub-compact (.40cal), Kel Tec PF9(9mm), Beretta Px4 Storm sub-compact(.40cal), Ruger SR9C(9mm) and a few others but the one that was the smallest for its caliber and felt nice in your hands was the Kahr CW40(.40cal). If any of u have had one or delt with Kahr feel free to chime in with your opinions of them..or what gun do u have or like for carrying? Preferably i want a 40cal but would consider a 9mm

    Such an opinion based question/answer!

    Glock Model 19 works fine.
    Smith&Wesson MP9C works just fine.

In the end, anything you'll ACTUALLY CARRY works better than the flavor or the week that you leave setting in your safe.

I have a lowly Beretta Tomcat 3032 for the days when I can not carry and chance printing. Like say to school functions.

I will agree glocks are awesome guns. I have a glock 17 that i use for match shooting and that kinda stuff.

But for my carry duties all day everyday I carry my kel-tec P3AT .380 with federal hydro-shock personal defense rounds. I practice with my carry gun alot and have put probally 2000 rounds through it without one single issue

The 33 is the same size as the 27, I have a .40 barrel for it so I can shoot both rounds.

The best thing you can do is go to a gun store dressed as you normally would and see what you would be comfortable carring around with you.

Like I said above the decision was easy for me going with the kel-tec P3AT. I carry it everday, In any kinds of cloths. And half the time forget i even have the gun with me.

Its got to be comfortable anuff to have with you all the time. Cause at the end of the day a gun is only good if you have it.

I agree the XD is a nice gun but its still to early in my opionin to say its as good as a glock is. After they are out a few years longer and if they are still as flawless as they have been then I might say they are as good as a glock.

You do realize that the XD is a $299 Croatian Arms HS2000 pistol that could not sale in the USA until the rights to the thing were purchased by Springfield Armory (who does not make it even now) so that they could have thier name and logo stamped onto it, they could blast it into every gun magazine with full color adds and mark the price from $299 to about $599 overnight?

Do you also have any clue as to how many police departments and federal agencies have adopted the XD/XDm platform as an approved duty weapon? When you find that answer.... the next question is.... Why?

    I'll give you help.

    None.
Can not pass reliability and field servicability tests.

Now ask yourself this about the XD/XDm. If something so simple as an extractor breaks, what is your course of action?

    Same for Glock?

How about the M&P (Military and Police) by S&W?

The XD is a fine toy for those that wish to pay $600 for a $300 pistol.

HS 2000 / Springfield Armory XD
HS2000 pistol has been developed by Croatian IM Metal company for Croatian army during late 1990s. Production of the 9mm HS2000 started in 1999, with the first pistols being delivered to the Croatian army the same year. In 2000 these pistols first appeared in the USA, initially imported under their original name. However, in late 2001 the Springfield Armory Company of Genseo, Illinois, became the sole importer of HS2000 pistols in USA. Springfield offers a slightly improved version of HS2000 as the Springfield XD (eXtreme Duty pistol), and by now these pistols (still made in Croatia) are available in a variety of sizes, calibers and finishes.

Field servicability killed it's use in a couple large market departments when the firing pin was realized to be built into the weapon frame and not a replaceable part. For an officer to be required to give up his side arm so that it can be sent back to Springfield with a 4-6 week expected turn around time..... well, you get the picture. That ruined the whole service pistol idea.

There is much more to the story, but you know.... this is a Mustang site!

The XD/XDm is a fine pistol. Just not for me, the LEO or any Federal agencies. For you, they may be just fine.

(I never followed up, but heard that one of the large cities in Cali were trying to get the XD approved as a service pistol, it may have happened by now.)

    God Bless you all.

Nothing wrong with XD's, but to say that they mop the floor with Glocks tells me you don't know much about Glocks.

I carry a G30 IWB and have zero issues concealing it even in a t-shirt. If you like the G27 I would highly reccommend getting the G26 9mm, main reason is ammo prices. Plus the 9mm with the proper ammo is as effective as a 40 cal, the differances are minimal.

Bottom line is that the best reply is:

    "The one you'll carry!"

Many would be armed citezens buy a handgun based on internet ramblings or magazine adds and find the weapon does not fit them and the use they intended as they had hoped for, so the thing gets tossed in a closet or safe only to be pulled out once a year to fire it 20 times. I would rather see someone carry a Baretta Model 21A (.22L caliber) and actually carry it then buy a Kimber 1911 (.45 caliber) and decide it's too big to carry and too heavy so it gets put away and forgotten.

The other thing I like to remind folks is that ammo costs $$$ and 9mm is less costly to practice with than just about any other service caliber round.

I also like consolidation of ammunition in that I only buy 9mm pistols and .223/5.56 rifles as well as 7.62x39 rifles. That way you only need a few thousand of each type of ammo and not fill an entire room with 20 types of ammo.

I would recomend buying ammo in 1,000 round cases to save money, I tend to like www.ammoman.com for bulk ammo. Get at least 1,000 rounds to start with. It will take at least a few hundred to 600 rounds to get the trigger broken in and starting to self polish. Most actions get better with use. Plus I like to get 500+ rounds through a new weapon quick to verify there is no freakish manufacturing defect waiting to happen.

Go to a local FFL dealer and hold a couple various brands and sizes and see what feels good to you. I own a couple Glock's and have had great service from them for literally thousands and thousands of rounds, but I have found a new love in the form of the S&W M&P. You can find them quite affordable at www.GandRTactical.com (Grant Timberlake) in Ohio. He can ship to your local FFL for PICS Check and pickup by you.

Judging by the torture test it seems quite reliable and you are the first person I have seen call into question the reliability of an XD vs a Glock.
