Nice try trying to change this around.

The issue was being pulled w/o a question of a permit. My whole question / issue is why it was done that way and if this was common. Do you know why they did that? Did I look suspicious? Im not trying to be cute here, just looking for answers.

I don't think it went bad at all. Went pretty smoothly.

You guys were walked outta the truck and a quick Terry Frisk.

They you were free to do whatever you wanted.

People were even joking with you guys.

Your buddy was detained for 20 minutes as he and his guns were run.

Back on the road in 25 minutes with no further hassle.

There is no other way to do it safely.

Yes, everyone treated us very cool, i guess I suck at getting my point across here, what made them do it in the 1st place? They didn't ask for a permit. If that is standard procedure, it sucks to be a gun owner.

It wasn't my stop so I have no clue what was initially asked or said.

I'm going off what I actually saw and heard.

    OP,

I understand what you are getting at.

There is a fine line between harrassing a law abiding citizen and police work.

Safety is always the main issue.

Nobody was treated like crap, everyone went home safe & your buddy probably still hasn't learned his lesson.

Well he better have RAS before taking anything, just sayin. If not then he is in complete violation of your rights. As for VIN#'s, that applies to automobiles not guns. If you are not being detained then you are free to go, no in betweens. And if you are being detained for no reason then an attorney should be contacted immediately afterwards for legal advice.

I'd really like to know why the question of weapons was even brought up without RAS. Is this normal procedejure?

Police Officer can ask whatever they want to.

It is your choice to answer it or not.

Like if I ask you on a stop, "Sir, do you like getting killed by LSx powered vehicles ?"

You don't have to answer that.

I don't know what to call it, it just didn't seem like it needed to go down that way. Like I said, you guys have alot of balls to do the job you do and its deff. something I don't envy but I have alot of respect for. Im not a gun nut, extreemist, I have a a 9mm and have carried it once or twice in the year or two ive owned it. I don't plan on calling a lawyer or chief, just find it disturbing to be pulled just because there was guns in the car and figured we have 3-4 LEO / Gun experts here and my questions would be answered. Other than that, I had no problem with them checking him out after he couldn't produce his permit, that is their job.

I just don't know about the quote about him being pulled all the time, sounds pretty strange. He is a mountain boy that lives in the middle of no where but is an engineer for a big company, can't see him causing too many problems.

Yes I know that but most people don't.

Now that's funny, of course I would not give a yes or no answer, my answer would be more on the lines of a question "excuse me officer have you been drinking"

This is what bothers me, I was honest and it seemed to back fire on me. This would make you want to be hesitant next time.
