Radar Detectors in PA

Hey guys,

I am sure this has been covered many times, but I was just doing some googleing and saw that Radar detectors are legal in PA? I always thought they were in PA. I found this site among others on the issue:

If I can find a decently priced one I might go for it, I am traving alot of highway and could use the warning on 70 west and east.

Yes, Legal in PA but not over yonder in DC. Just be sure what you get is immuned from detection for use in areas (other states they are not allowed) and also don't jam it on the windshield in those states (or Canada!) and your all set. I run mine all the time, it is hardwired into my truck.... so legal or not... it is on. Mine lays flat on the dash right in front of the Sirius control so it is not so easy to see. I use it in Canada as well. One time a Canada LEO made me remove an older one from the car and run it over, that sucked.

Run my passport 9500ix up there all the time w/o problems. Get a rearview mirror mount and no one will see it. I can get you the email of the guy that makes them for the passports for only $23

Sounds good guys, smart idea running two front and rear. So this will detect state and local correct? I did some brushing up on VASCAR and other means of getting em. Sounds strange but I usally do not speed around. My only concern is 70 east and west, I travel out that way to Cal and its become a nightmare and the last thing I need is a fine etc. Bascily playing it save if I get a brief lax in judgement with the right foot.

So he sells them for 25 bucks? What is a passport? Brand of a detector? If you could shoot me his email I will think about it.

yes he sells the mounts and Passport is one of the best on the market if not the best. I like it better than a Valentine 1 and I have used both.

Don't cheap out. Passport 8500 x50, 9500 series or Valentine 1 or don't even bother.

I have run my 8500 x50 with the mirror mount Butler is talking about for 4 years and love it, saved me countless times. (Except once... oops)

Radar jammers are illegal.

Laser jammers are not but worthless in PA.

I use a Valentine 1, but it is the "Chicken Little" of radar detectors. It squawks at everything! I don't mind that, but some do. I really like the directional arrows and have it hard wired and mounted near the rearview.
