    Some random thoughts ....

If your current tires are Quick time Pro's, then they are 26-9.50-15. As a benchmark, these are really a 26-8 slick width (8" tread width).

The best fit for a fox car to get tires under it is 15 x 8 with 5.5 Backspace. I am ASSuming your wheels are 15 x 8 with 4.5 Backspace???? If so you are correct to worry about clearance in the front.

Rob (Wick) has the longer axles with rear disc's on his car. This makes the wheel flange stick out 3/4" more than a normal fox. My 15 x 8 5.5 BS wheel fit okay on there with my 26-9-15 slicks. This is about a 1/4" less than your 4.5 BS wheels so even they would be tight. There is no chance to get my 26-10 slicks under his car IMO (lowered)

Are you opposed to buying a set of 15 x 8 x 5.5 BS wheels??? This would then let you run a 26-10 slick, a 26-11.50 QTP, or a 275/50/15 radial (all 10" wide rubber). The extra inch of BS will open the world to wider and taller tires for you.

Another option a little better is to look to Mickey Thompson for either their 26-8.5 slicks or a 26-10.50-15 ET Street. I am almost certain that these will not fit well as Shaun (libstang) has been paranoid about using that same combo (4.5 BS wheel and 26-10.50 ETS). Some heavy outside rolling might make it work, but ....

I will also tell you that the QTP's will hook like mad, but are VERY sensitive to burnout process if you are under tired. Go to the Hoosier site and read thier burn out process and follow it. You might be suprised how your 60's pick up.

I have used a few different back spaces 15x8 4.5 / 15x8 5.5 / 15x10 5.5 & 6.5 with 28x 10.5 slicks. And they ALL require a 5lb sledge to the inner fender well around the shock support and rolling the fender well on the quarter panel. Both jobs are not that bad, just do not cut the lip on the inner fender and then roll it. It will cause the outside of the wheel well to crease and look like shit.

One thing to look at if you want to run a slick is a 15x8 5.5 BS and a 28x9 slick then you really only have to smack the high spots on the inner fender around the shock tower in a little.
