Man, this really is kind of sentimental for me.

I might have to go out there this weekend just to say so long.

They have events scheduled until October 17th...
Wonder if they'll still run them post sale?

I thought the city of Salem already owned it?

Meh. I need to get to PRP instead.

Gets old on T&T night when you have to wait for Junior Dragsters and Snowmobiles to go down the track.

Meh, very true. I thought most places had their waterbox off set so you could drive around so you just have the rear wheels wet.

The only local track I have been to like that is Dragway 42 where you have to back into the waterbox. PRP you pull through like QCR.

Thats the one. I wanted to say Dragway 42...

I promise I'll get DR's so I quit whining about water, running 13s and 2.3 60 foot times.

I heard many things when it was up for sale a couple years ago... It was supposed to become a Municipal waste area or i also heard it was going to become a housing plan, and i also heard Walmart was going to build a distribution center there.

I just hope someone buys it and keeps it a drag strip and can run it correctly.

How much do you think something like that could go for?

With no reserve, nothing that it could have gotten a few years ago.

My money says if someone takes it all the offer will be well under a million. $750-800k

I hate to see any dragstrip close. I have a lot of good memories at Quaker. I hope it does sell to an owner who will run a reputable program, will join a real sanctioning body. and is honest.

Saw posted on bracket talk that Norm Fox bought the track today for $460k. Suppose to remain a race track. Guess no reserve is a kick in the nuts to former owner

    Form a reliable source...

"I went out to Quaker City today for the auction. Pleased to say the place will continue as a drag strip. Norm Fox from the Minerva area bought the track for $460K. They tried selling off the parcels first, but nobody bid on anything. So they combined the parcels along with the track and I think there were 3 bidders. Michael Tedesco dropped out at $420K and someone else went to $440K.
It looks like the new owner will have a lot of equipment to buy though because it seemed to be all selling off.

Swindell turned down a much higher offer back in in '07 of around $1.2 million saying the place was worth #3 million."

Awesome, but I'll believe it when its a done deal and the old owner is long gone. The sale of this place has been off and on for way too long.
