I could do it, but give me the double lanyard tie-off. OSHA not caring about tieoffs is bullshit.
Thats so wild. I dont think I'd ever think about doin that shit!
Maybe if the money was right? lol..
couldnt they just get a helicopter, and have someone drop down a little ways out of it? Or suspend the person and move closer? I understand the tower may sway, but damn sure be safer connected to a helicopter than climbing 200 some ft up a pole 1700 feet off the ground!! wow

I wouldn't even get in the damn elevator to begin with...
Talk about zero margin for error - that dude has balls like church bells...
My favorite quote...
"Now we've reached the base of the antenna...from here it's just another 60 feet to the top."
Those pegs sure seem small.
Jesus - the climb back down - that would be even worse. You have to be getting seriously tired, and your momentum, however slight, is heading down.
I hope he makes serious coin. Sure would be neat to know exactly how much...
Awesome vid - thanks for posting it!
...sure would piss me off if I got to the top and the replacement bulb was bad...

This was a thread on SVTP a week or so ago, I too figured they make big money, but they don't.

On that note, I'll definitely pass. haha. How much money do you make?
Depending upon how much you work and what company you’re with the pay can range from $32,000 to $50,000 per year. They don’t make as much as you’d think. When I first started I thought, “I know these guys are making $50 an hour,” but it’s not true.
The Hughes 500 is a great Helicopter for in tight work!

18-25$ an hour? thats what i would have guessed. The only way a company will pay nice money is if you have a specialized skill they can't get from a straight out of school kid. Experience is the way a company will pay.

What the hell??? He got a ride 90% of the way.
OSHA would have a bird,,you gotta tie off when your 6' or more off the ground. Why hes wearing a double lanyard,, its for 100% tie off.
The narrator tells it like it is, it's a pain in the ass unless you have retracts.
Has me thinking what is the proper way to do that cause your tie off points have to be able to hold 5400 pounds dead pull. Must be why he has tie backs and legally has to wrap the pole and move it up past the rungs every step. I'd free climb it too.
Yea no thanks, that made me anxious just watching it. And I'm not even afraid of heights.
