yea, it just doesn't make sense to me... if you all remember, the year Malkin won the scoring title was the year that Crosby was hurt for a good portion of the season.. he was unstoppable during the time Crosby was hurt... and the only thing i can come to is that he gets put with garbage linemates now - then he had the guys that Crosby normally plays with... He's an elite player in the world, but without linemates that can take advantage of his skill and feed off him, its worthless... When 87 and 71 are together, they look like a fortress... Crosby still gets to play with Kunitz, who is on fire, and a very hard working Dupuis when not with Malkin... Malkin has no one that can help him make the most of his world class talents... Furthermore, why has Asham been taken off his line... he and Asham began to play SO well together, and they havent' played together since...

Either way, i agree with everything said above... everyone is playing top notch.... With the return of Staal, i think we're going to be one of the top teams in the league again..

I agree with everything except for what is in bold....

Edit: Oh, and I still hate Asham. No value added there.

They are playing some truly amazing hockey right now. It is incredible that they're doing all of this without Staal, and without a healthy Malkin. I hope they destroy the Capitals in the winter classic!!

The better Defense won tonight. The last game I thought the Caps D played better than the pens but we fought through, and lucked out.

Also, WTF is Balsma thinking putting Staal in this game when he had his offense clicking having conner, and asham in the lineup. What we saw was a cluster **** on offense, and a caps stout defense. You have to put a guy thats been out of the lineup for half a year in after the most deciding game in the regular season, not in it.

I have kinda mixed feelings about letting Staal play today, and not Connor... my brother was 100% against it, and i can see both sides of the argument, so i dunno....

I think at times the pens looked like a cluster **** as well.... but i think one of the major turning points of that game was when Fleury, the worst puck handling goalie in the league, completely jacked that up.... he's been very good since coming out of his slump, but he is still terrible at handling the puck and makes me cringe every single time he tries....

Obviously, the disallowed goal was total B.S., as was the non-call for goalie interference on O-douche-kin..... that "incidental contact" crap is total garbage... that's the ref's excuse for only seeing the back half of a play and not wanting to get the call wrong... Rupp was clearly pushed into the goalie... and with Ovechkin... how is that not goalie interference? worst part was, if it wouldn't have resulted in a goal, he wasn't going to call anything...

Sure wish Gino wouldn't have hit that post when we were down 2-1 and surging... i think that could have turned things around too....

Either way... $hitty game, $hitty weather ... .just gotta keep piling up the wins, and take it to them next time!

Another thing I forgot about is the Power play. You have to score on at least one of them against a team like the caps. The pp's been struggling a little lately. They're ok, I just like to bitch!

i agree with you... the PP either looks FANTASTIC, or absolutely horrific.... i wish they could just find a middle ground - or slightly above middle - and stick to it

I can't stand Alex Ovenchicken, but I have to admit his new ESPN commercial is pretty funny...

Hopefully tomorrow will be more of wednesday.....

I think if we get Crosby back healthy, we're startin to look good... other than those few games last week, the defense has been solid.... Staal looks like he's starting to get more comfortable.... And if the last several games haven't been enough of an indication of what position Malkin prefers, then i don't know what else you need..... IMHO, he has been PHENOMINAL ... unfortunately, its not showing up on the score sheet, so i think a lot of fans are getting down on him.... I think he looks as good as he ever has, but those assists aren't coming like they did 2 years ago because no one on his line is puttin the puck in the net...... but he is so much more comfortable as a center, and its clear as day.... With Staal, i dont' know if its him getting more comfortable with the game, or if he just plays better with Cooke and Kennedy, but i see no reason to break that up at this point.... When Crosby gets back, then either make Crosby/Malkin/Staal on 3 separate lines, or put Malkin with Crosby...

Go Pens - avenge that ridiculous loss from Monday night!!!!!!
