I'd have to say it's like new. The drawers work great. It's MDF press board. Yes the headboard seperates, actually it just sits in front of the frame. and the mattress goes with it. It still feels firm as well.
I'll talk with the wife more about it. Where is it from originally?

I'm not sure where it was bought. My ex-wife and her boyfriend bought it. When they broke up it was too big for the next place she lived in so she traded me the one I had for this one.
