I was leaning on 347 but at the same time a 408 or even a 427 with close to 20lbs of boost and a motor that can take it is sounding more enticing. Probably a little easier on the 408 rather than the 347

A lot probably depends on budget and if you have things like the intake and other stuff that would need replaced going 351 based. I know a buddy had a lot more into those things than he expected when he went 351 based.

make sure you get an aftermarket block, to make that kind of power you want you are looking well over 8k, or just put a BBC in it, cheaper

agreed... do not try to push a boosted 347 or even a 408 stock block. you will be running on limited time. I also have learned the hard way

You can easily make that kind of power with a 347, but to do it reliably you will need an aftermarket block as mentioned. Go 408 and you can make it much easier on yourself and the engine for that matter as you will not need as high of cylinder pressure to make the power due to the added cubes.

i agree with killer canary.... you want 550rwhp give or take... a 408 or 427 should be able to make close to that without any boost... i mean, if you use a real engine *ah hem* LSx *ah hem* ...... a 408/427 with 20psi will probably make like some gargantuous amoutn of power....

e.g. .... my Trans Am made 698/706 on 11psi @ 11.0:1 a/f... current owner is making in the mid 900's rwhp on 16psi..... all this was on 348 c.i. LS1, with LS1 heads.... blower cars won't make as much power as a turbo car, but it won't be some rediculous amount less... only a small amount...

Price it out and I'm guessing you'll be happy and within a reasonable budget with a stock block 347 and boost to about 500rwhp.
What are your goals with the car? street, track, combonation?
What parts and blower do you have now?
And I can tell you exactly what a 427 with 19psi can do ;)
Well, at least on a dyno, it only took a touch under 14psi to trap 148mph a 3300# in 92* weather.
I will also tell you its not cheap and WAY more power than you probably need :)

347 have a bad reputation for damaging gods and pistons because of how far the piston has to cmd out of the bottom Of the blocked I will have a 351w roller block already machined ready to sell in a couple weeks

I maybe selling my top-end (heads/intake/rockers). It won't be cheap but with it or any good flowing combo on a stock block 392-408 and your T-trim you'll have 9 second power.
