Question Maybe a new Mustang Owner --- help me decide

So I'm looking at a 95 GT but it's got the cats removed. I live in Butler County and can't find anyone that will inspect it. Any help would be appreciated.

Negotiate ~$500.00 off the price and buy a catted H pipe ... Install it, get your stickers, then use your imaginiation what to do next ;)

Can you do a 5000 mile emissions exempt on a 95?

If so it would have to have under 5000 miles since the last inspection.

There's only a visual emissions inspection in Butler so I think that means that if you don't have all the SMOG stuff that it was originally equipped with, then they can't do the safety inspection either?

    Exclamation

Mike, where do you suggest (PM me). I've called 10 places and nobody would touch it.

I maybe putting a classic PA plate on it. So the FAQ from PENDOT says those cars are exempt from emmissions.

    "INSPECTION
Classic vehicles are subject to an annual vehicle safety inspection. Antique vehicles operated exclusively
between sunrise and sunset are exempt from the normal lighting requirements of the Pennsylvania Vehicle
Code, but must have their original lighting equipment. Antique vehicles are not subject to the annual vehicle
safety inspection. Antique and classic vehicles are not subject to emissions inspection."

You think they would skip the fact it doesn't have cats?

you can do it on anything (most of my stuff is exempt ('02 Ram, '08 Focus, 84 Capri, etc, etc) ... but the catch is ... it MUST pass inspection / emissions on an ownership transfer. Once he gets it done, it can be expempt for life under the 5,000 mile exclusion.

Its got a current inspection till 6/11. Do I need another inspection just for this?

I doubt I'd put more that 5k on it.

Check the mileage on the current sticker. If you drive it less than 5k you should be exempt on the next inspection

Exemptions are only for Emission stickers, when driven less than 5k miles in 1 year. Since he lives in Butler county hes not required to have an Emission Inspection. He does need a yearly Safety Inspection, which includes a visual inspection of emission components and there is no exemption for this. All emission controls must be present to pass a Safety inspection.

And...I do!! The car came from Cleveland and in Oh. you don't need cats...Let alone an inspection. I have the stock H pipe from the Cali. The pipe is 2.5 inches as is the H pipe on the 95. He can have the cats and the H pipe and have them put on. Of course the H pipe won't fit, but the high flow cats will...

    PM'd.

Butler has no emissions so it shouldn't matter about the 5k mile thing, as I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) but the whole visual thing has to do with inspection and not emissions, so the cats will still have to be there to pass the inspection.
