I shouldn't need it. Guy used Eagle rods which are same weight as what I have +/-1g. He did have a block bored .030 over using CP 18cc pistons which are about 30g heavier than what mine are. CP's should be 366g and my DSS weigh 336.1g. I do have two sets of wrist pins with one set being thick walled and 7.8g heavier other set thin walled.

Yeah if your pistons are lighter you should be fine, if I understand it correctly, the heavier rods/pistons will need crank weight added and lighter will need crank material removed for balancing generally.

Rotating assembly is at shop getting done and crank being turned into swiss cheese :D I got the block cleaned up and painted titanium silver/blue. Mostly deburred on inside with a few spots left to get. Still need to tap oil return holes for fittings and knock out heater tube connection on back side of water pump area. Tap that and plug it.

Lots and lots to do and buy yet. Have fuel system to redo, chassis work, and figure out transmission. Doubt my stock 3650 will survive very long(willing to test that :D ) and case would need machined to put a steel bell on it along with many upgrades needed internally for it also. So need to look into a reworked Tremec 600 or something else

That will be real nice. Pro Motion builds 3650 good for 750hp and Quick Time makes a steel bell setup for it as well. Which would make pulling a 3650 much easier. I have an extra 3650 I'd like to redo myself if possible.

Well I got something accomplished today. Got the crank in and just have to go over the jack screws and side bolts. Not sure how much time I wasted looking for a deepwell 12pt 12mm socket to fit the ARP nuts on inside main studs. Just for that one stupid one for pickup tube mount

Mental note when filing steel ring and iron rings. Iron rings take less effort to reach desired gap. Plus I noticed they don't need much deburring compared to the steel ones. I did get half the pistons in at 30-40 min per cylinder. I really could use a 1 piece ring compressor as my adjustable one does not like the small 3.552 pistons and wasting more time.

Also with mains all nice and tight. Don't mix up the torque value for jack screws and side bolts. Over doing jack screws even slightly was enough to make turning crank by hand tough. Like butter when done right...who knew :loco:

Kinda questioning myself on the ring gaps. I have the steel top at .020" and iron 2nd at .015"(set a little more than what I figured of .012-.013") Based off guide lines that came with rings. Top being bore x .0055" and 2nd being bore x .0035"

Looking good Ed ... I guess I have missed it, but is the car still together and going to race as is to start, or are you not coming out until this new combo is together? LOL, I need someone to be later than me this year ;)

Car is still together. Actually charged the battery, put air in front tires and drove it some sunday. Going to retard cams this week some and give another shot at 11's NA

Well rotating assembly is done. So glad the file the ring, check the ring, file the ring, check the ring, rinse repeat is over :) With 2v heads I'm looking at 9.5:1 and with the 4v heads I'm looking at 8.6:1 compression

Little time with bead blaster I cleaned up the 4v front cover. Needs lil more cleanup. Because umm well one just never knows ;)

Well not much on new motor currently but I am sort of ready for the track to open.

Oil and filter changed, only put 5 qts in it.
Retarded cams 3 degrees and that made a huge difference in how the car runs and drives. My tune was written for the cam specs and I had the cams advanced 3 degrees setting them at 110*ICL. Car just idled odd, exhaust seemed rich and would kinda burn my eyes sitting at a light too long. It ran decent at track but seemed to have lost the top end pull it had when I first had cams in with stock heads. They were setup at 113*ICL. Car had lost 2-3mph running consistant 110mph vs the 112-113mph it had been running pre-head change.

Now with a simple 3 degree change it idles much much cleaner, exhaust no longer has that gas smell to it. The drive home it even runs much better. Now to take some passes and see if it runs as good as I think it is. Who knows maybe my damn 11sec pass was in there all along. Here to hoping.

Intake on the way. Ended up going with the Edelbrock Victor. Not sure on ordering an elbow from 6061 without the IAC mount as I'm going to remote mount the IAC. Or maybe try the Edelbrock elbows.

Now to pull trigger on the fittings and fuel rails.
