Not only did I fail at building a fast mustang but I bought a yellow zo6 cause I couldn't get my little dick up.
Still screwing around with all this. Sold the blower, going turbo. Have a set of MMR stg 3 turbo cams here.
This weekend I took care of rear end. Removed True-trac and Moser 31 spline axles and installed Strange spool, axles and c-clip elims. What a royal pain in the ass trying to get the elims on first axle I did. Had to sit it outside in the cold for over 2 hours before I could get elims pressed on the last 1/4". Other axle I tried something different and got it pressed into place on first try. It's done and that is something to cross off list of things to do. Weighed spool with bearings and gear 23lbs. True-trac less gear was 23lbs.
Still need to get quad shock brackets removed and redo my braces as I found I had the brackets on axle tubes in wrong place. No biggie but still
Lets play a game of a few hour project turns....2 days

You are going to love the spool, I sure do, one of the best changes I made. Taking that weight off the transmission was a huge thing for me.

I haven't done this since I went to a spool ....
the Detroit Locker had so much mass and back lash it was killing transmissions. The spool is light rotating weight so you don't have to move that huge mass.
Thoughts for spool use on the street? I've been very tempted to replace the 31 spline Ford unit in mine with a spool just for piece of mind at the track and general longevity. My main fears are it eating tires and loss of general driveablity.

he's into that, that spiritual stuff. <><
So much of that comes down to personal preferences and expectations ... I would drive mine anywhere, and generally do ... that said, I also drive it like a car with a spool, skinny fronts, manual rack, and no sway bars on the street. In my case, the spool is at least predictable while the Detroit Locker surprised you by staying locked at times, or unlocking other times.
For sure it affects tire wear. My real street tires are cheap mastercraft radials so they are sacrificial. I do drive to and from the track o my sticky tires, and we do the True Street cruise on them. It's not like it burns them off any worse than driving on them anyway.
If you are worried about that stuff, then it's probably not or you.
rain would be my only concern with a spool on the street.
interesting info Bob....thanks for sharing

Buy Made in the USA - It Matters.
Parts collection has been going on. Team Z A-arms 1" shorter than stock for SN-95, K-member with tie downs hooks and rear sway bar for tail pipes. Not sure if running exhaust out the back yet but rather have that option if I go that route.
More ARP hardware. 12pt 40, 50 and 60mm bolts for timing cover, 10mm/1.5 x 25mm engine mount bolts, side main bolts and ARP2000 rod bolts. So minor tear down of short block to swap rod bolts and side bolts. Used (5) 60mm, (9) 50mm and (1)40mm - where I redrilled block for hole that didn't align on block for cover.
Bolts in place for cover and length worked out perfect. Trying to decide what to do with cover, leave as is or powder coat.
Mounted k-member to block and fitted hotside. Kit designed around UPR k-member so had minor clearance issue on driver side. Header is not close to being flush with heads yet. Things I'm glad to do out of car.
Little cutting and grinding of mount. Much better and header fits nicely. Looks tight in pic but it is about 1/8" from tube now. Might trim it up a little more.
Going to fab up brace for turbo this weekend. From intake over alternator like stock but out further to support turbo from top. What came with kit was lacking and not sure how it does anything honestly. Otherwise. Header flanges are nice and thick 3/8", nice and straight. All hot side lined up perfect and fit very well. ON3 kit which should work for now. I had stumbled upon CG Fab after I got the kit and probably would have started with their hot side.

I thought we worked out turbo sizing the last time at PRP? Lol
keep in mind when designing a brace, the force generated by SS pipe can be a lot more than the effect of weight ... When I was running a SS header it cracked a lot, not from weight, more because the pipe couldn't move
Looking good, Ed! What car is it going in, and when?
I remember watching this car run years ago, cutting 11's N/A.. cant wait to see what it does boosted.

For the most part this has fit pretty good. Except for the little dump pipe for waste gate. The flange welded on is too thick and clamp does not fit. Not a big deal as waste gate has an extra flange and I was going to reroute how it was coming off anyways. Just minor crap to me but I can understand people that get mad over it.
No fit
Fits with proper flange. Can see difference in thickness lol
Included support for turbo off just a tad... Pretty sure it will not line up if I loosen clamps at pipes. Just no way to move it closer to motor. Going make my own anyways. Which I didn't get to do this weekend. Did take some measurements and as it sits would fit and clear everything ahead of motor.
