Question Having trouble resetting TPMS on my GT500

Recently I purchased a set of Alcoa wheels and Toyo tires from a member here.
He had just bought them from Cruizin Concepts.com.

I drove them about 40 miles and the TPMS light came on.

I reset tire pressure from 30 pounds cold to 35 pounds cold but that didn't help.
    I purchased a Ford TPMS tool - 8C2Z-1A203-A.

I have the instructions on how to prepare car (cycle key 3 times, press brake, turn key off. Cycle key 3 more times and leave in RUN).
Horn beeps and dash says "Train LF tire".

I hold the trainer 180* from the valve stem and press button. Stays red for about 5 seconds and goes out.
Horn never blows and dash still says Train LF tire.

I hold the trainer at different points around tire but no luck.
I moved car 1/4 turn and then 1/2 turn of the wheel rotation and tested again....no luck.

    I'm stumped.
    What do you suggest?

Not a stupid question at all and I've been thinking the same thing.
Guy I bought them from claims he had the TPMS kit installed when he got 'em.

So unless I break the tire down, I will not know for sure.

Ya I guess you would have to check first. A trick you could do is get some PVC pipe, seal the one end and have a screw cap on the other. (that seals tight!) put a valve stem in the one end and throw 4 FORD sensors in it and fill to correct pressure and toss it in your trunk!

The sensor band may have broken. The sensor will be at the bottom of the tire. Or use your tuner to turn them off.

    Sensors

I believe the 2010 sensors will not work with an earlier system.

Drove around tonight for over 12 miles.
Tire pressures cold were 35 pounds.
No dash lights or error codes.......yet.

Got back home, tried programming again and NOTHING.

Went outside to my 08 F150, put it in training mode, and programmed each wheel/tire with the chirp from the horn within 30 seconds each side.
    Truck said "Training complete".

So I know ho to program and I know my trainer works.

Therefore either my wheels have no sensors or there is some other issue.
