Anyone ever have a property line dispute?

I'm trying to build a shed in my backyard, and I was approached by the guy that owns the land behind us. He claims that he owns waaay more than what we thought. I had the township stop out a few days later. Township thought I was ok. Just to make sure I had another survey done. The new survey confirmed what the original survey and township thought. So the jerkoff neighbor stops down just a few minutes ago, and tells me the new survey is wrong. So far he has not produced a survey, but claims he has one.

My question....I have a survey, he has a survey (he claims)....who decides who is right? Court? Sounds like I'll be calling a real estate attorney tomorrow.

    All for a dumbass shed.

He is probably just saying he owns more property then he does cause he doesn't want you to build it so he doesn't have to look at it. I would build it anyway and tell the guy to go get bent.

Did you get a building permit? I would think that if the township looked at your survey and issued a permit that should make you ok...

I agree 100%... if the township says you're ok, then you're ok... just for your own protection, get it in writing from the township .....

something like this might work too...the homebuilder built a home, which obstructed his neighbor's view of the mountains. The upset neighbor made a huge stink, but to no avail, since the new neighbor's house was completely legal and by the book. The new neighbor decided to put a little design on the side of his house facing the angry neighbor...

my buddy bought a house this spring and the neighbors came down to introduce themselves and say how happy they were the PO had moved out. An argument between the PO and neighbors ended up wtih a 4x8 sheet of plywood with F#%K YOU spray painted on it and leaning against a tree toward the neighbors house....sure enough it was still in his yard but had fallen down and he didn't see it before buying the house since it was winter and covered with snow.

I am going through this with one of my driveways. Neighbor claims I own 8 inches of the driveway when the fact is she owns 8 inches of the driveway. There is a survey, she claims it's wrong. Big nightmare. It will end up in court.

Yea, I still don't know how the process works. The township told me that any person disputing a survey has to prove it to the township. The township also told me that if the other person has a survey that is different than mine, then the township's attorneys would step in. It almost sounds like its going to be the neighbor vs. the township.
