Lol Greg, several have pointed that out. It will likely be well on the way to healed before I get to drive it anyway :(

I got my first 3 fingers on my right hand in the fan on my welder at work (steel fan) on a Friday morning and after 15 stiches went racing Saturday night. I wore a welding glove on my hand lol... RPM's make the pain go away.

Ed - You might notice it wasnt the right hand ;) Got to keep the shifter feel.

J - Funny thing was, no beer involved, just rushing because I am traveling to the source ... Kingfisher this week (India), A wide variety of exceptional beer next week (Germany) then almost a month of TsingTao (China) ... at least it will be healed before I'm in the same country as the car :(

Likley going to be May before it is running again :(

Between trying to cut my thumb off, and travel, progress has been slim ... none the less, at least the machine shop could keep working :D

One of the issues is with the Quick Time bell (for a 4 cylinder) being made to the V8 depth (or more acurately, the old 4 speed). At some point when I grow up, I want to try a TKO, and need to be able to swap trannies fast when needed so machining inputs wasnt a real option.

So I took some parts to the machine shop. First we took the bell centering ring to T5 pilot and duplicated it with a longer shoulder (7/16")...

We then took the cast early style adapter plate and machined the thickness and bore to suit the new set up ...

So now the adapter ring installs like it was intended (only longer) and most importantly keeps the indexing ...

Then the spacer slides over the ring ...

In the end now, a 4 cylinder T5 is a bolt in without modification with this set-up, and everything will be set up for the other tranny options by removong the spacer and changing centering rings :D

    Then the spacer plate

Sorry to hear you hurt yourself Bob! Reminds me of when I was replacing a clutch in my '88 GT in a gravel driveway and pulled the tranny out and...uh...gravity helped bring it down and smashed the tip of my left ring finger. 80%+ severed / squashed above the top knuckle. Man did that suck. I remember rinsing it in the washroom sink, trying to get all the pieces of gravel and dirt out, with my good hand underneath, just in case the tip of my finger would fall off and try to go down the drain... Good times...good times....

Did I mention this was a few weeks before my wedding? My fiance ( now wife of 17+ years ) was thrilled to say the least.

After returning from the hospital with a bunch of stitches I did manage to suck it up and finish the job with a buddy. That sucked too...

    Get well soon!!

LOL, you know the old sayings, cuts heal and chicks dig scars ... just going to add a little more character ;) I'm pretty sure there is nothing in my garage that I could expose an open would to that would be worse than what it saw in India ;)

I still have one piece to make as a filer in the bottom ( piece of aluminum angle)... Unfortunately, while I was cutting that I stuck my left thumb in the sawsall chuck, ripped the nail back, cut it about 1/3 the way through, and broke the end of the bone ... a trip to the ER, a bunch of stiches, and it should be alright ... Coolness was they sewed through my nail to hold it on / together :D
I did my finger last year while working on that Damn Go Kart of mine!! I really kicked it hard after the hospital trip!!!!

I remember that ... I think you had about the same packaging on yours that I do now ... Stiches come out tomorrow, then they said just some kind of brace for the bone.
