Been working on getting the intercooler mounted ... kind of hard to get pictures with the nose close to my garage door, but a few anyway ....

The intercooler top is closed in by the support for my grill ... when I build side boxing panels and a bottom plate it will be closed in so it will only get air from the lower opening ...

What will be visible (gap in front will be closed in) ...

This is just a bracket picture, but you can see my wastegate dump pipe sticking down in front of the rack :D

    LOL .... April ???

I have a couple pieces of tubing i'm waiting on, but hope to finish the intercooler pipes this week ... I have parts for the tranny install at the machine shop, and they are 1 1/2 weeks away or there about, ...
I have a tranny out being freshened that I dont know the status of ;)

So I should have everything pretty well in hand sooner than later ... the issue is that my job is sending me to India and Europe for a the last 2/3rds of March ... so when I get back, install the tranny stuff, nut and bolt everything, yeah .... April I hope :(

Got the new turbo blanket installed ...

The one that was on the car last year was a lot bigger so it could physically fit with the SS tube header and protect the plug wires ... this is a more proper fitted one that should do a better job with the turbine housing now that I don't need to worry about protecting the wires.

Also got the hot side charge pipes all made and fitted tonight. I'm real happy with how they came out. Tough to get any good pictures since it all runs low now and is tucked in pretty nice ...

LOL, nothing great to take pictures of tonight, but really cleaned up a lot of loose ends ... Put a fresh tune up on the things anticipating starting it sometime, got my dipstick back in the car (freaking PITA), little stuff like that cleaned up off the punch list.

Of note, I got a new set of plug wires for this year. I had always used the Motorcraft wires and they have been proven to work and seem cheap enough. Three years a go tried a set of Magnecor 8.5mm wires. I used to go through two sets of wires a season baking them to death, but the Magnecor's really held up well, and after three years was still flexible. I really only got a new set as my plug boots got roughed up a bit dealing with the tube header. So the set I have will become a back up set and I got a new set of R100 10mm wires on there now. Although the Magnecor are expensive, they seem to pay back in life for me.

Waiting for a couple pieces I need for the cold side plumbing, but I'm starting to feel like I got my hands around it.

Spent some time tonight making templates for the air ducts to the intercooler ...

There is a filler for the top of the bottom that for some reason I didn't take a picture of, plus a full panel to support the nose ....

A bit of a PITA to fit everything up but I'm happy with the result. Whatever air that gets to the air dam opening is going to the intercooler. Now to tranfer it to metal.

LOL, I was eying that stuff up ... In general, it seems a bit light for this. Still debating on what I'm going to use. Idealy, I would find a crew working in the middle of the night changing out aluminum roadsigns and letting them sit ;)

Got the cold side pipes fit up tonight ...

Had to trim the front part of the inner splash liner away. The part over the tire is still intact, just where it came forward. Ignore the odd looking black thing, it;s just a wire tie that fell down there and ended up hung up (was scratching my head what it was in the picture and had to go to the car to see ;) )

It's all ready to tear back off and bead roll all the ends.

Decided to pass on J's suggestion to paint the cardboard and got the fillers for the intercooler ducts made tonight. Tough thing to get pictures of ...

I still have one piece to make as a filer in the bottom ( piece of aluminum angle)... Unfortunately, while I was cutting that I stuck my left thumb in the sawsall chuck, ripped the nail back, cut it about 1/3 the way through, and broke the end of the bone ... a trip to the ER, a bunch of stiches, and it should be alright ... Coolness was they sewed through my nail to hold it on / together :D

Just trying to keep up with you :D Not sure what wins, Sawsall on the Capri or alternator on a Pinto ;)

New improved packaging after I saw another doctor today. Nicely wrapped and now has a roll bar ;)
