No, those are just pics I found a while ago when searching for heat extractor hood pics on google.

LOL ... i'll let you have at it first then :D For me, I look at it is as something I can add after I try all this other stuff, then go here if needed :D

Yes, but they need the Disco flares to be effective. The flares create the low pressure area behind the car :D

Have a look at the pictures of the Cobra style extractor vents above and the Shelby extractor ... how hard would it be to make sometrhing more functional like the extractor hoods but with a flange like the Shelby vent out of glass ??? Sort of like two big NACA ducts but to accept the ford grills ... We might need to talk about bonding a plate into my cowl opening anyway :D

One other thing to discuss .... coatings and wrap

Several of us have mentioned wrap. It works and is semi-cost effective but has not held up well for me. It will survive a season if I coat it with ther spray, but if I have to handle anything after that the wrap turns to dust.

I will be coating some things with this ...

    http://www.techlinecoatingswebstore....tin_Black.html

I'm going this route because it will air cure ... One of the TurboFord vendors uses this stuff on his headers he sells and said it holds up best of all of their stuff, including the "Turbo X" product. There are a number of home coat systems out there but this one seemed the closest to DIY with home tools I could find. Some time soon I will coat my stuff and keep that updated.

That coating is expensive . You should buy a gallon and let me use some:D. I havent had any issues with the wrap, but my car only see's about 500 miles a year on sunny days. DEI makes a Titanium exhaust wrap that looks like a better quality wrap.

LOL ... Should have caught me earlier with that offer ... I only bought 4 oz ... It seems that it really will go a long way, but that is TBD ... Probably going to get around to it over Christmas holiday. There are eBay and online sellers that offer it a bit cheaper ... my issue is you never know how it was stored, how old it is, etc so I went right to TechLine

You only have half as much exhaust as me, maybe less, so 4oz may do it?
How are you going to apply it?

Found this on crownvic.net, apparently it works on a vic. LOL

"Best part is is that it's functional too. I did some data logging before and after and with identical weather conditions with the outside air temp only one degree different, my intake air temps came down from 109 degrees to 84 degrees."

The Cervini's piece is actually an '03-04 Cobra hood dome w/ heat extractors layed on a Fox hood (see mismatched cowl area). While I hear what you're saying, I'd imagine it would still work very well.

That is exactly what is planned. The lowewr air dam opening will feed the intercooler with the upper opening feeding the radiator. The open question is how much area I leave open up top. The REALLY good news in my case isthat I have no issues with coolant temperature, the car runs very cool.

Lucky devil, must be from only having to cool half an engine :D

I'm not sure what you mean by this, but if you mean the air dam it's staying for sure. My car has nothing behind / below that so I will be building a 3-4" air dam right off the bottom of the core support. The intent of this will be to create a low pressure area behind the core support.

I just meant the factory lower dam that hangs off the lower core support, so exactly what you mean, I take it your year didn't come with that?

I think this is key in al lthis heat management discussion ... don;t look at this as air flow, look at this like a fluid flowing from a high pressure are to a low pressure area. If the pressures are equal, there is no transfer. If you can create low pressure areas, the air will go there.

Exactly, was planning on making a post on a few national boards about this to look for some professional experience.

This has been suggested to me by several people. As you posted, it rather inexpensive. The debate for me is it will look odd on my car ... form over function ??? LOL ... I might try and get my hands on one of those vents to play with it.
Post a good hood pic of your car and maybe someone good with photoshop can give you an idea?
Price Chad mentioned is nice though, probably worth trying.

4 oz is supposed to be enough to do a set of V8 headers (full length). We will see how far it goes.

I have an old gravity feed touch up gun that I'm going to use.

I dunno how you guys deal with a "whole" engine, I got my hands full with half the crap :D

Yeah, no air deflector on the Capri RS ... You have to remember that this was a different nose to start ... Mercury took the normal Capri nose that sort of tucked under like a GT of the era, cut the bottom off, then put the 79 pace car air dam and fender extensions on it. Not sure they did a lot of engineering for it on the Capri ;) The plastic filler between the opening and the core support is bolted on where a defelctor would normally fit.

Im trying to go on the cheap, my cost on the Shelby vent on the black stang in the pic is $50, found a carbon fiber one online for $150. I'd like to try to keep my stock hood and install a vent without it looking to ricey .

I'm still on the fence, thinking of even opening it up more and making a floating oval or running horse, but I don't want to get too far from the clean factory look, well other than the steamroller tires

Gotcha, and I think your plan of adapting an air dam will help.
I am cutting off the factory lower rad support for tubular to free up a ton of space for a bigger rad/fan and stand up the intercooler, but it will require the Saleen lower bumper I mentioned before.
