Just remember that alot of turbo kits come with some expensive supporting parts, like injectors, maf's, ect. Check out a good high end sc kit and figure in the other parts needed to run those systems. For an extra 1k or so you could have a wicked turbo street car.
I sc'ed my 98 and it ran ok, but my next 4valve car will be a turbo setup hands down, they need the torque!
How much hp can you get from safely power a stock 4v motor with turbo ?
Also how much is a good one cost?
I was looking into the vourtec supercharger for around 3500 plus some extras..I like how it mounts right on the out side of ur intake instead of the kennybell being the intake its self..
looks eazy to put on.. But i could be wrong.
looking 2 get an extra 200hp
Say your cobra makes 270hp to the wheels, which is close. You would want 470. From what I learned about these cars 475rwhp is the line for "safe" on a stock motor. Granted everything varies some from car to car, but this is a rough idea.
I had a 6psi non intercooled version of the v2-sq vortech on mine and my car with long tubes, off road x, and catback and all minor bolt ons made 416 to the tires. I was going to get the h.o kit but I wanted the thing to stay together. You can also look into tuner kits of the vortech to save you money on parts you don't need from the kit. On the turbo kits, I hear good things about hellion and hp systems, although I have no experience with an install on them. The vortech kit I put on myself and it was pretty straight forward. The worst part is tapping the oil pan for the return, but I've done a couple in the past so it wasn't too bad. Vortech and ati both make self contained head units now so no tapping into pan is needed if you go that route.
Hellion kits are very very nice and not too difficult to install. I helped my brother with his TT kit from hellion on his 04 cobra and we didn't run into any major hang-ups.
