    Lowering springs (help me choose)

    Hey guys,

Need some advice on lowering springs. Ive been doing some reading on other forums and I can not seem to make up my mind. I am about to pull the trigger to buy but want to make sure.

My 03 is my daily driver, but I want a aggressive and lower stance. I have look at customer pictures on AM, but I still see ugly wheel gap. I am sure it is just the price you pay with a DD and crap roads. I would like as little fender gap as possible with out running into issues, which seems like 1.5" max.

I don't want to lower it and be unhappy. The look I want and the look I am going to get I know are going to be different. Also I want to stick with 17s ( I know) I don't like the look of 18+ wheels right now.

On moddedmustangs.com, MP Cobra fan has the look I want and a amazing Cobra!

Here is a picture, he has Eibach Pro Kit but he also has a Cobra.

    http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...-member-24993/

Any help, brands etc is needed! Plus AM has free shipping right now so....

I had the eibach sportlines on my 03 GT. I put 40,000 miles on them. I don't have any pictures, but it was about 2" lower than stock.

I had Eibach Pro's on my SN95 and now on my GT500. Both cars IMO have perfect stances however the ride quality of the SN95 was a little hard!

We put a set of Steeda's on the womans 02 a few years ago. We've been pretty happy with them especially considering I picked them up new on ebay for $99.00. Her car has 17's but she needs a taller tire up front.

Keep "perspecitve" in mind when looking at pictures ... same car, same ride height (pictures aren't the best, but illistrate my point) ...

I know I couldn't live with it much, if any, lower although the one picture makes it look like a 4x4. These are coil overs BTW so I can put it where I like ;)

Op do you plan on sticking with the stock wheels or something aftermarket? I know when i first lowered mine i wasnt totally happy on the stock 17's. The main reason was with the stock bullits and 245's i felt like the wheel got sucked into the wheelwell even more which made the width look very narrow. From the side it looked good but from the back it almost looked like i had the wrong offset on the wheels. If your sticking with the stock wheels you could always go with a spacer out back to help a lil bit. Once again just curious.

Thanks mr4teth. Your shelby is sexy also. One of the nicer ones ive seen around from the wheels to the color.

Stick w/ Eibach and youll be happy. The sport kit will lower you about 2" and the pro will be between 1-1.5". Both ride fairly well imo.

Rob...did you sell your car? I saw it listed on craigslist.

Well like everything I figure wheels and tires are going to be well over 1k. Even used wheels I think are way over priced. Seems that 18s fill out the wheel well better.

I will have to snap a picture of the silver Gt that lives near my parents in Canonsburg. Stock star fish wheels with no gap at all. I want to talk to him and see what set up he is running.

Is this the Eibach kit I should buy?

Ah okk. If theres no gap its hard to say. Ive seen some sportlines that sit with no wheelwell gap. It's weird about suspension because ive seen the same spring combo's on the diffrent cars and they sit totally diffrent. He could be on sportlines,hr ss, or even coilovers.Somedays i do want my car to be lower but the problem you run into is with your midpipe draggin everywhere. Me personally i would rather keep the underneath looking just as good as the outside ..Good luck on your search.

Yes there is a fine line between pratical and stupid. Im sure everything would hit and be destroyed in a week if I went to low.

I was looking at struts on AM as well. Wow, 100 bucks a piece? Anyone know of a cheaper place for shocks that will work with a drop.
