My car isn't lowered(yet). The FORD dealership here only charges 35 dollars for a front alignment (not 4 wheel). I was there when they did it. They spent 45 minutes doing it.
Im sure if you bring in a lowered car to the dealership the time and money will go up. If it is stock I can see 40-50 bucks, lowered cha ching on their part.

How much do you think a shop would charge to install a lowering kit?
I got the kit in, and my dad wants to help me but he is getting older and I dont want to put him through it with the cold garage ect.
I might be able to do it by myself but if a shop is fairly cheap might have them do it.

its simple, do it yourself, you will appreciate it much more and you can say "I" did it. rent the compressers from advanced. google the instuctions, with air you can knock it out in under an hour
I hear ya. I have air tools etc.
Also should I wait to get the CC plates befoer starting? I found a new set on CL but I really did not want to spend that much. Tofastcobra, how much for the ones you offerd up?

you do not need the cc plates right away, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HSS-3002/ here are mine, they have about 800 miles on them. I can sell them for 100 bills. If you can lift that jeep you can drop that car. your not going to hurt it and its a easy bolt on, now get to the garage
I agree, it's really easy. Just a matter of doing it. If you go to american muscle's website there is a very good writeup with pictures on how to lower it.
So how long can I get away without CC plates? Will the car be underivable or just tire wear? Its my DD and cant be out for more than 2 days (weekend). Also, I would need to get it aligned I guess as well meaning more money...
Thanks for the help!

you are driving your self crazy and us, you are way over thinking this, you are going to get it done and say thats it?
http://www.americanmuscle.com/h-r-ss...4-install.html
If you were going to pay a shop to put on springs, why not use that cash towards the cc plates above? 100 bucks is cheap. You could drive the car that way un aligned, but you need plates to get it aligned as well. Why ruin your tires?
Im not trying to drive you crazy, I just want to make sure I am ready before starting it.

Don't put the springs on until you have the C/C plates (and install them) and have enough money/time to get it realigned.
