I have a 30k-80k BTU one from lowes. Its only 100 bucks and it heats my large one car, non-insulated block garage to 60 degrees in about 5 minutes. I would definitely recommend it.

Can you post up more info on it? Kerosene or propane? How much fuel does it use? Brand name / model #? Thanks! I need one too - my garage door doesn't seal that well and until I replace it I need something like this...

Yeah, details are appreciated. I couldn't heat mine but it would be nice to knock the chill out. I was planning to go shopping for one tomorrow.

I lied, it only goes to 60k btu. But even so it still works the same. Its propane. There is a chart break down about fuel usage. On low it lasts 14 hours of run time I believe. I turn it on high for about 6-7 minutes then turn it down because it gets too hot. Here is a link.

Thanks for the info!! Seems like a nice unit! I'll have to run to Lowe's and check them out.

I picked up one of the $100.00 heaters from Home Depot today. I will report how it works later in the week.

I went to home depot first but they were out. So I went over to lowes and I got the last one. They are the exact same heater.

I've had a Mr Heater 75,000 btu torpedo for 5 years now , have'nt had a single problem with it, just add kerosene and flip the switch. I use it in a 2 car garage, heats up to 70 deg in less than 5 minutes in an uninsulated garage. Its really too big for a 2 car garage, a 50,000 btu or less would probably be more ideal. It has a thermostat, but its either a on or off type heater. Downside is that its loud and smells, you have to crack a window to keep the smell from going into the house. But it gets the job done and fast.

I like the Reddy Heater brand (I think that's how it's spelled), after seeing a couple of my buddies with them. I bought mine used in '03, and it works fine. 55k btu in a 4 car detached garage, and if it's real cold out (20 or colder), I'll go out and turn it on for a half hour and it will have knocked the chill off. It is a little small for the 4 car, but directing it in the area I'm working, it's comfortable enough. It is loud, and can get a little fume-y.
