    Vert Top

I am looking to install a new top on my 89 GT. Can anyone shoot any pointers my way on this? What about cloth vs vinyl? I searched it and some people think its not bad, others would'nt even think about it. I got a quote of 850 for vinyl installed and 1000 for cloth installed. Thanks

IMO cloth is a better quality.
my 03 cobra was cloth while i think the 03 6 cylinders and gt may have been vinyl.

I had the vinyl top put on my 89, cant remember exact cost but I think it was between $600-800. That was for the top only, not the back glass It was in good shape and reused. Then additional money for top pads and cables and whatever else they find wrong. On my 94 I did the top myself, was around $150 and a weekends work. The hardest part is getting the wrinkles out, but with vinyl you can use heat or a steamer and get them out. I considered cloth, but didnt feel it was worth the extra cost, I'm sure its harder to install than vinyl as far as getting the wrinkles out.

My buddy Greg ( gpfarrell here on SCS ) had a guy put a new top on his '85 GT. Turned out very nice. Shoot him a PM - I'm sure he'll give you the details.
